Thousands of devotees today observed Good Friday in Bihar to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Archbishop Father William D'Souza led the prayer service in the state capital and guided the devotees through the Good Friday rituals.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended the prayers on the occasion at Padri Ki Haveli church in Patna City area.
Members of Christian community gathered at Kurji Church in the state capital in the morning after holding 'The Way of the Cross' through a procession replete with tableaus and people dressed as personalities from the Bible.
A play was enacted at the Kurji Church campus, depicting each of the stations of the way of the Cross. It was followed by prayers and singing of psalms.
"'The Way of the Cross' reminds the faithful about how much Jesus Christ suffered for humanity. Each of the stations on the Way of the Cross depicts the various events that happened with Jesus on his way before he died on the Cross on Mount Cavalry," said Father Johnson Kelakath, Kurji Parish Priest.
Other churches in Patna and other parts of the state like Bettiah, Gaya, Biharsharif, Supaul, Purnia and Muzaffarpur also held masses and special prayers to mark the occasion.
