The bodies of three members of a family were recovered today from a house after police broke it open following neighbours' complaints of a foul smell emanating from the house.

Inspector T Karunakar Rao of the LMD Colony Circle police station said that on a complaint by the neighbours about foul smell coming from a house in Vooturu village, police broke open the doors and found three decomposed bodies inside.

"They were identified as Vangala Laxmi(60), her sons Vangala Venkataramana(40) and Srinivas(35). They might have consumed insecticide and died about three days ago," the official said.

He said that the three kept to themselves and added that Laxmi's husband had died several years ago.

"The cause of death can be ascertained only after post mortem. The bodies have been shifted to Karimnagar district hospital. Investigations are on in the case," he added.
