Tigress gets strangulated in trap set by poachers in Tadoba

A tigress died after getting caught in a trap set by poachers at Tadoba- Reserve (TATR) in eastern Maharashtra, an said Saturday.

The carcass was spotted by a Friday evening, said Chief of Forest and TATR Field

Autopsy revealed that it was a "sub-adult" (about one and a half years old) tigress, he said.

"She might have died two days before as the carcass had started to decompose. She died due to strangulation after getting caught in the wire-snare trap set for herbivores (such as deer or wild boars) in the core zone of TATR," he said.

Probe was on to identify and arrest the poachers, he said.
