Two youths were today arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 12-year old girl at Howly in Barpeta district.
The arrested duo are 23-year old Moklesur Rahman and 24-year old Nijamuddin, while the prime accused Jahangir Ali is still absconding, police said.
As per the FIR filed at Howly police station, the girl was forcibly taken by the group of four youths and they allegedly raped her near the Barpeta Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday last.
The boys then abandoned her on an overbridge in Howly threatening her not to tell police about the crime, police said.
The girl's parents had filed an FIR where she named one of the boys as Jahangir Ali.
