Two drown in UP

A woman mother along with her

daughter drowned in river Gomati today in Amethi district, police said.

Both the mother and daughter, residents of village Mohiuddinpur under police station Musafirkhana, were grazing their goats on the bank of river Gomati when 16-year-old Rekha slipped in the river, they said.

Her 40-year-old mother tried to save her but she also drowned in the process.

After efforts by locals, the bodies were recovered and given to family members, they added.
