UP poll violence: 28-year-old man shot dead

A 28-year-old man was allegedly shot dead today by associates of a former Gram Pradhan over election enemity in Sikri village.

Tehsin was shot dead by Naushad and Jamshed, the associates of former Gram Pradhan Sannewwar, at Sikri village under Bhopa police station area in the district today, police said.

The victim was supporter of another former Gram Pradhan Ummar Ali, they said, adding that he died on the spot.

In a rise of violent incidents in the wake of the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat elections, another man Khalid was injured yesterday after the same gnag attacked him.

Both the former Gram Pardhans are contesting the Panchayat polls, police said.
 

The security has been beefed up in the village, they added.
