About 100 people, mostly women, were taken into preventive custody today when they blocked the passage of trucks carrying iron ore at Sonshi village in Bicholim taluka, 50 km from here.
"We conducted preventive arrest to avoid law and order situation in the village as the crowd of villagers refused to give way to the trucks carrying iron ore for export," Valpoi police inspector Sanjay Dalvi told PTI.
The villagers had put several demands before the mining firm, Infrastructure Logistic Private Limited (ILPL), an arm of Fomento group of companies.
