Worker nabbed while attempt to steal Rs one lakh from old man

A 40-year-old construction worker was today arrested for allegedly attempting to steal a bag containing Rs one lakh from an elderly person here.

Police said the man snatched the bag as the 60-year-old Velayudhan kept it on a table of a shop where he was having tea, and fled.

However, people in the area chased and caught him after Velayudhan shouted for help, police said.

The worker had followed Velayudhan after he withdrew the money from a bank.
