Workshop on eradication of child labour begins in Indore

A workshop by Unicef and the Madhya Pradesh government on formulating a strategy to eradicate child labour got underway here today.

In his inaugural address, Indore Region Labour Commissioner K C Gupta said that child labour was a bane for the society, and stressed the need for coordinated efforts on part of government and society to overcome the problem.

"A blueprint will be finalised after the two-day deliberations and (it) will be implemented at district-level to eradicate child labour in MP," he said.

Unicef Child Protection Specialist PJ Lolichen said that child labour was a big issue as it was linked with crime and other things.
 

Unicef Communication Specialist Anil Gulati also spoke about various problems being faced by children.
