Zinc futures edged up 0.28 per cent to Rs 123.50 per kg as speculators created positions amid a rising trend in base metals overseas and better domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in April was up 35 paise, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 123.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 78 lots.

The metal for delivery in current month also rose by 20 paise, or 0.16 per cent to trade at Rs 122.65 per kg, with a business turnover of 471 lots.

Marketmen said strength in metal at the London Metal Exchange (LME) as improved sentiment in China bolstered base metals prices and iron ore, influenced zinc futures here.
