Despite a 26 per cent rise in its two and three-wheeler production during the first quarter of the current fiscal, Bajaj Auto's market share during the period shrunk to 46.3 per cent from 46.8 per cent recorded during the corresponding period of the previous year.
The drop in market share has been in the motorcycle segment. This was due to the discontinuation of the two-stroke motorcycle production and competition from the Indo-Japanese joint venture companies.
In the current year, the company plans to introduce several vehicles, besides upgradation of the existing vehicles. The company has started pilot production of its new 125cc two-stroke motorcycle which meets the new emission norms. Besides, it will soon unveil
