Dhaunka Agritech launches herbicide Sempra for sugarcane crop

Dhaunka Agritech officials launch Sempra, a herbicide

Dhanuka Agritech, a manufacturer of agrochemicals, launched herbicide Sempra, a product originally developed by Japan's Nissan Chemical Industries Ltd, for the protection of sugarcane crop from weeds. R G Agarwal, Chairman of Dhanuka Agritech, said, "We expect that all sugarcane growing areas like Maharashtra, UP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Punjab & Haryana will benefit from Sempra. This will have positive impact on crop yields and farmer's income."

Sempra is a herbicide with WDG formulation (ie, water dispensable granular) for control of a malicious weed in sugarcane crop, which at present is not controlled by any weedicide available in India, claimed Dhanuka Agritech.

M K Dhanuka, managing director, Dhanuka Agritech, said, "Sempra herbicide is not only very cost effective but also promises to increase sugarcane yield. Also, it has to be used in very small quantity as compared to traditional herbicides."

The new product would save cost of the farmers spent on manual weeding and water thereby cutting the cost by almost half.

The company will soon make this product available across the country through a network of dealers and distributors. It would benefit farmers in states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, it added.
