Grasim Industries Ltd, a part of Aditya Birla Group, has commissioned a new production line for viscose staple fibre (VSF) at its plant in Vilayat (Gujarat) as a part of its capacity expansion project to consolidate its position in the man-made fibre sector. “The company has completed the last phase of its greenfield viscose staple fibre plant at Vilayat (Gujarat) for production of specialty fibre, by commissioning the fourth line,” said Grasim in a BSE filing on March 2, 2015.

With this, VSF capacity at Vilayat has been increased to 120 kilo tonne per annum (KTPA) and Grasim’s overall VSF capacity enhanced at 498 KTPA.

Grasim is one of the leading manufacturers of VSF - a man-made, biodegradable fibre - in India. An extremely versatile fibre, VSF is widely used in apparels, home textiles, dress material, knitted wear and non-woven applications.
