In a highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025 clash, India cruised to a dominant 7-wicket win over Pakistan in a one-sided contest marked by a clinical bowling performance followed by a commanding chase.
Deciding to bat first, Pakistan could only manage 127/9 in 20 overs after a disciplined bowling effort from India led by Kuldeep Yadav (3/18) and Axar Patel (2/18). Despite a gritty knock of 40 (44) by Sahibzada Farhan, Pakistan's innings never gained momentum. Kuldeep struck with a double-wicket over in the 13th, and the collapse left Pakistan struggling at 90/7. A late cameo from Shaheen Afridi (33 off 16) gave Pakistan a much-needed push, adding 28 runs in the final two overs, but the total was always under par.
India began the chase with intent. Abhishek Sharma (31 off 13) took on Shaheen Afridi in the very first over with a four and a six, setting the tone. Although Saim Ayub caused a brief stir with the wickets of Gill and Abhishek, India remained in control throughout. Tilak Varma (31 off 31) and Suryakumar Yadav (43 off 35)* calmly rebuilt and accelerated with smart strokeplay and excellent game awareness. Dube finished things off alongside SKY as India reached the target in just 15.5 overs, sealing a convincing victory.
Pakistan’s fielding and energy dropped visibly toward the end, and post-match handshakes were noticeably absent. India’s dominant performance with both bat and ball highlights their strength and depth, while Pakistan will need a rethink after a disappointing all-round showing.
