India and Pakistan reached a military understanding on Saturday. However, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press briefing late on Saturday evening, said that there were repeated violations of the understanding from Pakistan. He added that the Indian Army has been instructed to deal with the situation. Meanwhile, India has stated that the Indus Waters Treaty will remain in abeyance.
Earlier, in a press briefing, held by the Ministry of External affairs and Ministry of Defence, Air Commodre Raghu Nair stated that while an understanding had been agreed upon, India is ready to protect its sovereignty at all times.
Previously, in a post on TruthSocial Donald Trump said, "After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Operation Sindoor was India’s response to Pahalgam terror attack
India had launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, including one Nepali national, in Baisaran Valley. In the aftermath, diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan were downgraded, leading to rising tensions. Following another attack on May 7, Pakistan responded with intense artillery shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), particularly in border regions of Jammu and Kashmir, causing the deaths of 16 civilians.
Schools closed in border states amid security concerns
Schools and colleges in border states like Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan will remain closed for the coming few days in view of the escalating military tensions with Pakistan. All schools, colleges, and universities in the Union Territory will remain closed for two days as a precautionary measure.

Emergency blackout drill carried out at Pune airport
A planned emergency blackout drill was conducted at the Pune airport on Saturday evening amid heightened security concerns in the country, a senior official said. The mock drill took place between 8.25 pm and 8.45 pm and was aimed at testing the airport's preparedness and response to potential power outages or other emergencies, he said. The drill had been planned in view of the India-Pakistan military conflict.
