Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has joined the party's ongoing 'Palayan Roko, Naukri Do' padyatra in Bihar's Begusarai district on Monday. The top court has agreed to consider listing petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. A bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna took note of the submissions of senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, that the petitions needed to be listed for urgent hearing.
Police have arrested the secretary of the Servants of India Society, the parent body of the prestigious Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) here, for alleged misappropriation of funds and cheating, an official said. Milind Deshmukh was arrested on Saturday on a complaint by GIPE's deputy registrar Vishal Gaikwad, the Deccan Gymkhana police station official said on Sunday. "Funds of Rs 1.5 crore belonging to GIPE were allegedly diverted for the purchase of land for the Servants of India Society (SIS). The alleged misappropriation took place in 2022-23. Deshmukh has been booked under IPC sections 406, 420 and 34 for criminal breach of trust, cheating and other offences," the official said.

A second unvaccinated child has died from measles in Texas, as the United States confronts its worst outbreak of the disease in more than 30 years. The school-aged child, with no underlying conditions, died from complications while hospitalised, according to the University Medical Center (UMC) Health System in Lubbock.

Centre receives demand for 15K e-buses from three states
Under the PM e-Bus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) scheme, three states, namely Gujarat, Telangana and Karnataka, have placed requests with the Centre for 15,000 electric buses (e-buses) at a subsidised price. India aims to deploy 50,000 e-buses by 2030, with a focus on nine major cities and seven states — Gujarat, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal — under the National Electric Bus Program (NEBP), which was launched in 2022.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted approval to Piramal Finance, formerly Piramal Capital & Housing Finance) to start its business of Non-Banking Financial Institution – Investment & Credit Company (NBFC-ICC) without accepting public deposits, Piramal Enterprise said in its exchange filing on Monday.
After receiving the Certificate of Registration (CoR) to operate as Piramal Finance, the company will stop conducting its business as a Housing Finance Company (‘HFC’) and has accordingly surrendered the HFC Certificate of Registration.
