Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted a video of himself on YouTube taking a truck ride in the US.

He went on a 190 km 'American Truck Yatra' from Washington DC to New York, with Indian-origin truck drivers.

In the nine-minute video, Rahul Gandhi can be seen interacting with Taljinder Singh, an Indian truck driver in the US, and discussing the lives of truck drivers in the US.

Singh, in the candid conversation, talked about the struggles the truck drivers in India face to make ends meet and how their American counterparts receive dignity for their labour with decent wages.

Singh said that the companies in the US give truck drivers a credit card to fill fuel and they can repay in 15 days. This gives us time to earn money, save and pay for the card, says Singh.

Here, the focus is primarily on the driver's comfort and ease of living, he added.

He said that truck drivers in the US can easily earn around $10,000 in a month.

This is, however, not the scenario in India, he said. Truck drivers do not get credit facilities and they toil hard throughout the day, Singh said.

He added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in India does not talk about unemployment, poverty, and basic standard of living.

Thus, the truck drivers do not get basic facilities to earn a decent living for themselves and their families, he added.

Singh said that they can only drive for 14 hours a day in the US so that they get 10 hours to rest and prepare for the next day.

He added that all truck drivers have a truck app that helps them in tracking routes, gas stations, and people can leave reviews about the resting places so that the other drivers know whether these places are open or not.

Rahul Gandhi ended his 190-km journey with breakfast at a diner in New York.

On May 23, Gandhi had taken a late-night truck ride from Delhi to Chandigarh. He discussed with the drivers about the problems faced by them.

On May 8, Rahul Gandhi posted a Twitter video that showed him talking to people during a bus ride in Bengaluru.

On May 7, Rahul Gandhi was seen talking with food-delivery personnel in Bengaluru. He discussed the issues faced by food-delivery employees that worked for Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato, and Blinkit.
