Stock Market Close Highlights today, October 13, 2025: Indian benchmarks Sensex and Nifty closed lower on Monday, ending a two-day winning streak. The decline tracked weakness across Asia after US President Donald Trump warned Friday night of “restrictive” tariffs on China. While his tone softened by Sunday, investors remain cautious about the risk of a renewed US–China trade war.

At close, BSE Sensex was at 82,327.05, down 173.77 points or 0.21 per cent, and NSE Nifty50 settled at 25,227.35, down 58 points or 0.23 per cent.

On BSE, Tata Motors, Infosys, HUL, and Power Grid were among the top laggards, while Adani Ports, Bajaj Twins, NTPC and Axis Bank were among the top gainers.

Sectorally, Nifty IT and FMCG were the top losers, down 0.78 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively. Conversely, Nifty Financial Services was up 0.35 per cent.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 index settled up 0.11 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap 100 index slipped 0.17 per cent.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Technical View

Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Nifty index witnessed some profit booking at higher levels amid weak global cues. However, it managed to defend and close above its immediate support at the 25,200 mark. A decisive break above 25,300 could trigger short covering, paving the way for further upside. Meanwhile, the base has shifted higher to the 25,200 strike, indicating strong support at that level. Overall, the data setup looks positive, and a sustained move above 25,300 will confirm a follow-up rally in the inde

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Market expert view

Stock Market LIVE Updates: The domestic markets started the week on a cautious note as the ongoing U.S. government shutdown and escalating U.S.-China trade tensions triggered risk-off sentiment across Asia. Profit booking in consumption and discretionary sectors after recent rallies indicated a tactical shift in investor positioning. Mixed Q2 earnings further weighed on sentiment, with IT stocks underperforming, while financials attracted selective buying following regulatory easing. Mid- and small-cap stocks maintained a positive undertone. Although a marginal recovery in the INR and softening inflation expectations helped cushion losses, overall sentiment remained guarded, keeping markets under a slight negative bias.
