Jaipur, May 20 (ANI): Mango prices have soared in pink city Jaipur as the fruit production has been severely hampered by unseasonal rainfall and hailstorms that hit northern states in March this year. Mango traders say the decreased output is mainly due to crop damage in key production states like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Mango vendors in Jaipur say their business has also been affected due to price rise. Till the middle of May, exotic varieties of mango have not hit the market in Jaipur and even the regular ones are being sold for double the rates as compared to last year. Some of the shopkeepers said the inferior quality of the mangoes also contributes to poor business.
