ABVP protests march to WB Education dept HQ over delay in WBJEE results

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS, on Monday staged a demonstration before Bikash Bhawan, the headquarters of the state Education department, in Salt Lake, protesting the delay in the publication of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) results. The WBJEE was held in April this year, but the results have not been published. Carrying placards and shouting slogans against the state government, the protesters accused the Education department of "corruption" and demanded the immediate release of the WBJEE results. The ABVP members also blamed the state Education department for the delay in admission to undergraduate courses in many higher educational institutions. Former MLC, ABVP veteran, Ramchander Rao elected as Telangana BJP president

Former MLC N Ramchander Rao, an ABVP veteran and senior advocate, on Tuesday was announced as the new president of the BJP in Telangana, succeeding Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy. Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who acted as returning officer of the election, handed over the appointment letter to Rao. "I declare that Ramachander Rao was unanimously elected as Telangana BJP president," Karandlaje said at a function held here. BJP senior leaders, including Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar congratulated Rao. The appointment of Rao is seen as a move aimed at strengthening the party's ideological and organisational base in the state. Unrest at DU law faculty after 150 students denied admit cards for exams

Tensions flared at Delhi University's Law Faculty on Tuesday after about 150 students were denied admit cards for the upcoming exams due to low attendance. The situation escalated late at night when a group of students allegedly broke into the examination department. By morning, they locked the examination centre, declaring, "If we can't sit for the exam, no one will." As a result of the disruption, the exam scheduled for 9.30 am was delayed by two hours. Those denied admit cards included student leaders from both the ABVP and NSUI. Later, the administration intervened and broke the lock and conducted the exam. The students who did not have admit cards were not allowed in.

SFI, ABVP clash at SAU mess over serving non-veg food on Maha Shivratri

A clash allegedly broke out at South Asian University (SAU) in South Delhi over serving of non-vegetarian food in the university mess on the occasion of Maha Shivratri on Wednesday. The student groups of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) accused each other of instigating violence. DU sets up 4-member panel to probe vandalism at DUSU office; FIR registered

Delhi University (DU) on Monday constituted a four-member committee to investigate the alleged vandalism at its students' union office which will submit its report within seven days. The committee comprises DU Proctor Rajni Abbi, Dean of Students' Welfare Ranjan Kumar Tripathi, Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) staff advisor Surender Kumar, and Joint Proctor Geeta Sahare, an official notification said. The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Sunday alleged that some members of the NSUI, including DUSU Vice President Abhi Dahiya, ransacked the students' union office on North Campus. Police said no complaint has been received in the matter from either party. An FIR has been lodged against Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on a complaint from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for allegedly promoting enmity, police said here on Saturday. According to the complaint submitted to police by an ABVP office-bearer, Rai has accused the members of the organisation of being involved in an alleged incident of molestation on the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus.
