Qlik bullish on Indian market, aims to cross 1,000 customer base in 2025

Bullish on Indian market growth, leading data analytics and artificial intelligence player Qlik expects its customer base to cross 1,000 this year. "We have doubled our business in the last two years. We have a good representation of 800 plus customers now, including Indian Oil, Ather Energy, NSE and HDFC Life," Qlik Managing Director (India) Varun Babbar told PTI here. Prodded further about crossing the 1,000 customer milestone, he said, "We should be able to do it soon...it should happen this year, but it's difficult to say exactly when". There are a lot of small and midsize businesses that are doing quite well, and they are going to be the next set of partners, both on data analytics and AI strategy. From a headcount perspective, he said, India is the third largest employer within the Qlik ecosystem after the US and Sweden. SC dismisses PIL on circulation of deepfake videos of Col Sofiya Qureshi

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a PIL alleging circulation of AI-generated deepfake videos of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. The PIL sought setting up of a court-monitored expert panel for drafting a model law to deal with such online content. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh agreed with the petitioner-in-person Narendra Kumar Goswami that it was a "serious issue" but said that similar issues are being dealt with by the Delhi High Court by a bench headed by the chief justice. "We are not saying that it was not a serious issue but the Delhi High Court has been hearing this issue for a couple of years. If we entertain this petition, the high court will stop hearing the pending matter and all its hard work over the years will go in vain. It will be appropriate, if you approach the Delhi High Court," the bench said. Samsung to add local languages, India-specific features for AI appliances

Appliances & Consumer Electronics major Samsung is introducing artificial intelligence-based commands for vernacular languages and India-specific features to drive growth in the highly competitive domestic appliances market here, said executives of the South Korean company. The Chaebol is quite encouraged by the growth of the registered user base of the SmartThings app in India, currently ranked third globally. "We have approximately 23 million registered users of SmartThings in India, and India ranks third globally. The top two countries are the US and Brazil. The number of registered devices is also growing fast, having increased 39 per cent (globally) in 2024 compared to the previous year," they said. SmartThings is Samsung's app that lets users control the company's IoT devices and has an approximately 390 million user base globally. Samsung expects 70 per cent of its sales in India will come from AI-based appliances, hence, it is now introducing AI to its mid-range appliances
