Andhra Pradesh records Rs 7,653 cr GST revenue in Q1 of 2023-24: Officials

Andhra Pradesh recorded GST revenue of Rs 7,653 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2023-24, an increase of 24 per cent over the corresponding quarter in 2022-23, officials said. They apprised Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding this income during a review meeting on revenue generating departments, noting that this GST revenue is excluding compensation. Similarly, income from the registration department rose to Rs 2,794 crore until July 15 compared to Rs 2,292 crore generated in the previous fiscal, according to a press release issued by the state government on Monday. Officials informed the Chief Minister that registration services have begun in the villages where resurvey of lands has been completed with 5,000 registrations already taking place in the village secretariats, achieving a revenue of Rs 8 crore. Elista to invest Rs 100 cr to set up manufacturing plant in Andhra

Electronics maker Elista on Thursday said it will invest Rs 100 crore in Andhra Pradesh to set up a manufacturing unit for Smart LED TVs, smartwatches, audio speakers, and large appliances. The company has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to set up its second manufacturing plant in the state, the company said in a statement. Earlier, Elista had announced setting up a 1.32 lakh square feet facility in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 250 crore in March 2023. The second plant, which is scheduled to be operational in December 2024, would help Elista's foray into the smartwatch segment. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stones for three national highway (NH) projects worth Rs 2,900 crore at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. A total of 87 km of road will be built, with one of those stretching from Naidupeta to Turpu Kanupur for 35 km on NH-71, at a cost Rs 1,399 crore; another from Chillakuru Cross to Krishnapatnam Port south gate via Turpu Kanupur on NH-516W for 36 km at a cost of Rs 909 crore; and from Thamminapatnam to Narikellapalle section, which encompasses the extension of the dedicated port road from Epuru to Krishnapatnam Port, on NH-516W and NH-67, stretching up to 16 km and estimated to cost Rs 610 crore. The Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday said its agriculture marketing department is selling tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg at 103 Rythu Bazars located across the state to provide relief to consumers. "In response to the soaring prices of tomatoes, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken proactive steps to make this essential vegetable accessible and affordable for its citizens," the state government said in a statement. With prices reaching an alarming price of Rs 100 per kg, the Agricultural Marketing Department has initiated the sale of tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg in 103 Rythu Bazars across the state. Andhra suffers 37% deficit rainfall in June, logs 59.2 mm: Met dept

Andhra Pradesh suffered 37 per cent deficit rainfall in June, logging just 59.2 mm rainfall on average across the state against the normal range of 94.1 mm, the Met department said on Friday. Except four districts, Konaseema, Krishna, Chittoor and Sri Satya Sai, all the other districts registered deficit rainfall. Under the coastal AP meteorological sub-division, Konaseema district witnessed 21 per cent more rainfall at 165.8 mm against the normal of 137.3 mm, according to a data shared by the Met department. Likewise, Krishna district registered just 2 per cent surplus rainfall at 125.9 mm compared to the normal range of 123.1 mm. Chittoor and Sri Satya Sai districts recorded excess rainfall of 20 per cent and 11 per cent respectively. Among the worst affected districts, East Godavari suffered an 80 per cent deficit with just 25.8 mm rainfall against the normal of 125.9 mm for the month of June.
