Human oversight still crucial in AI-driven recruitment, says report

A large number of professionals believe human validation is essential for making final hiring decisions notwithstanding major roles played by artificial intelligence (AI), a report has said. On AI making final hiring decisions, scepticism dominated with 72 per cent respondents saying human validation is essential, while only 15 per cent are open to fully AI-driven decisions if systems are well-calibrated, workforce staffing and HR solutions provider Genius HRTech said in a report. Over 10 per cent said AI could be allowed in high-volume junior or fresher hiring, it added. The Genius HRTech report is based on inputs from 1,887 professionals across industries during August this year. Further, the report revealed that most respondents believe in AI's efficiency with 47 per cent of professionals reporting a significant reduction in time-to-hire while 28 per cent noting very slight improvements. CAG to launch portal in November to make entire audit process tech driven

The apex government auditor CAG will launch a portal in November to provide nearly 10 lakh auditee entities with a unified digital interface to directly respond to queries, observations, and inspection reports. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) is transitioning to a system-wide strategic shift to remote and hybrid audits to increase audit coverage, reduce time for field audit at auditee premises and improve the quality of audit outputs. This transition is anchored in risk-based planning, secure access to government platforms (such as IFMS, e-Procurement and sectoral databases like WAMIS for public works etc.) and the use of geospatial tools like PM GatiShakti to strengthen evidence and consistency across sectors, Deputy CAG K S Subramanian told reporters here. The pilot studies of remote audits in many audit domains have been concluded, and they are now being replicated across offices. Global AI standards to be adopted once finalised: Consumer Affairs secy

With artificial intelligence increasingly permeating daily life, global standard-setting bodies are deliberating on frameworks for its ethical use, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare said on Wednesday. "Indian experts are in the international standards-setting committees. Once the global standards are framed, they will be adopted by the countries, including India," Khare told PTI on the sidelines of a PHDCCI conference on harnessing AI to combat fraud and counterfeits in the retail and e-commerce sector. She said that 39 global AI standards already exist, while 45 more are in the process of being developed. At the ongoing International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) meeting, discussions are focused on preparing standards for responsible, inclusive and ethical use of AI, she said, addressing the event.
