The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved the transfer of AAP leader Awadh Ojha's name from the voter rolls in Greater Noida to Delhi, enabling him to file his nomination from Patparganj seat, party chief Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday. "The good news is that Awadh Ojha's vote will be shifted, and the commission has issued an order to transfer his vote. He will be able to file the nomination," Kejriwal said. Earlier in the day, Kejriwal alleged irregularities in the electoral process, claiming that Ojha had filed Form 8 to transfer his vote on January 7, ?the official deadline. He also accused the Delhi chief electoral officer of unlawfully advancing the deadline to January 6. Kejriwal said the move was an attempt to "deliberately debar" Ojha from contesting the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections, saying it was against the law. The former Delhi chief minister also m

Kejriwal following Modi's strategy of propaganda, false promises: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying that they keep mum on the issue of caste census as they do not want backwards, Dalits, tribals and minorities to get their due share. Specifically targeting Kejriwal at his first public meeting for Delhi assembly polls, Gandhi said that the AAP convenor was following "Modi's strategy of propaganda and false promises" despite rising pollution, corruption and inflation in the national capital. Gandhi also promised a caste survey in Delhi if the Congress formed the government in the national capital. "Kejriwal had said that he would clean Delhi, remove corruption, and turn the national capital into Paris. "What actually happened -- one cannot move around due to pollution and inflation is rising," the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said addressing his 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' public meeting at Seelampur. Blow from Delhi's voters awaits AAP for suppressing CAG reports: Puri

Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri flayed the AAP on Monday over the Delhi High Court's observations on its government's failure to place certain CAG reports before the Assembly and asserted that the party will get a blow from the voters in the upcoming polls in the capital for "suppressing" the national auditor's findings. Hearing a petition filed by some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs, the high court said on Monday that the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India on the city administration should have promptly been placed before the Assembly for discussions, but the government of the National Capital Territory "dragged its feet", raising "doubts on its bonafides". "It is crystal clear. You (the AAP government) have delayed (placing the reports before the Assembly)," Puri told PTI when asked for his comments on the court's observations in the matter. He said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government should have sent the reports to the Assembly speaker and ...

AAP delegation to meet EC officials, raise Awadh Ojha's vote transfer issue

A delegation of AAP leaders led by national convener Arvind Kejriwal will meet the Election Commission officials at 3 pm on Monday to raise the issue of transfer of vote of party's Patparganj candidate Awadh Ojha from Greater Noida to Delhi. Addressing a press conference here, Kejriwal said that it was an urgent issue since Ojha's candidature depended on transfer of his vote to Delhi so that he can file the nomination papers. Ojha filed Form 8 for transfer of his vote from Greater Noida to Delhi on January 7 -- the last day to do so -- but the chief electoral officer, Delhi, through an order changed the last date to January 6, the AAP chief claimed. "This is against the law," he said and suspected that the move was aimed at "deliberately debarring" Ojha from contesting the polls. Kejriwal said that although no appointment was given by the Election Commission (EC), but the party delegation will go there and wait for a meeting with the chief election commissioner since the matter was

Delhi polls: BJP focuses on intensive outreach in 30 Dalit-dominated seats

The BJP is hopeful of "markedly improving" its performance in Dalit-dominated constituencies of the city on the basis of a sustained and focussed outreach campaign spread over months ahead of the February 5 assembly polls, party leaders said. The party failed to win even one of the 12 SC (scheduled castes) reserved constituencies in the assembly polls held in 2015 and 2020. In previous elections too, the BJP never won more than two-three of these seats. There are 30 assembly constituencies in Delhi, including 12 reserved for SC candidates, in which the Dalit community voters range from 17 to 45 per cent, according to Delhi BJP leaders. Apart from the 12 reserved constituencies, there are 18 other seats with up to 25 percent SC community votes, including Rajender Nagar, Chandni Chowk, Adarsh Nagar, Shahdara, Tughalaqbad, Bijwasan, where the BJP and its SC Morcha worked in the past several months, they said. An elaborate outreach campaign through SC workers was conducted in the slums

Nehru Camp will be turned into model settlement, if we win: BJP Delhi chief

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday said his party will turn Nehru Camp into a "model settlement" with better sanitation by January 2026 if it comes to power. According to a statement released by the party, on his birthday, Sachdeva visited Nehru Camp in the Patparganj constituency as part of the BJP's slum outreach campaign. Addressing the residents, Sachdeva accused the AAP government and its chief Arvind Kejriwal of failing to address the plight of slum dwellers under its rule. He claimed that more than 50,000 flats, meant for slum dwellers, built under the Rajiv Awas Yojana in areas like Narela, were left to decay. "It is ironic that, despite being in power for over 10 years, Arvind Kejriwal has not taken a single initiative to transform slum clusters into model settlements or improve the living standards of residents. The last decade has shown that Kejriwal can only provoke people but cannot improve their lives," Sachdeva said. He also alleged that residents of Ne

Have no claim over any post, AAP spreading misinformation: Ramesh Bidhuri

BJP's Kalkaji candidate Ramesh Bidhuri on Sunday said he was not the party's chief ministerial face and the claim made by AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal was "completely baseless." Kejriwal, citing sources on Saturday, claimed that the BJP had decided to project Bidhuri as its chief ministerial candidate. The same claim had been made by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday. Bidhuri said he is a loyal party worker, committed to public service and the country, and has no claim over any post. "I am as much committed towards the people, as I am towards the BJP. Talking about the post of chief minister in reference to me is absolutely baseless," he said. He added, "Kejriwal making announcement with reference to me has admitted that Delhi BJP is going to form government in Delhi." Bidhuri accused Kejriwal of indulging in a sustained "misinformation campaign" against him and warned the Delhi resident against falling into the "trap" of "Aapda" a derisive term his party coined to refer to ..

CM Atishi launches crowdfunding for Delhi polls; BJP to seek EC probe

Chief Minister and AAP's Kalkaji candidate Atishi on Sunday launched a crowdfunding campaign to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls and said she hoped that people would support her party's politics of work and honesty. Addressing a press conference here, Atishi released an online link for people to donate money, saying she needed Rs 40 lakh to fight the elections. The AAP has always fought the elections with the help of small donations from the common man which has helped it pursue the politics of work and honesty, she said. "Despite being in power in Delhi for 10 years, the AAP does not have even a rupee of corruption. We will contest the polls with the support of the people of Delhi and the country, as has been done in the previous elections," she said when asked about the BJP's claim that the CAG has projected a loss of Rs 2,026 crore due to the Delhi government's now-scrapped excise policy. Delhi polls: BJP faces protest, threat from MLA over ticket distribution

Resentment surfaced on Sunday over ticket distribution for Delhi Assembly polls in the BJP, with a protest held outside its Delhi unit office and angry outburst by the outgoing MLA from Kaarwal Nagar who was not included in the candidates list. A group of protesters from Tughlakabad in South Delhi held a dharna at the gate of Delhi BJP office, demanding a change in the candidate from the constituency. "Vikram Bidhuri Tum Sangharsh Karo; Modi Se Bair Nahi, Rohtas Teri Khair Nahi," the protesters, including mostly youngsters, chanted as the party leaders tried to pacify them. AAP files complaint against BJP for spreading fake video on Delhi roads

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India against the BJP, accusing it of spreading misinformation and violating the Model Code of Conduct. The complaint alleges that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared a false video on social media, depicting pothole-ridden roads as being located in Delhi when they were actually from Faridabad, Haryana. "The party (BJP) has been spreading misinformation through a false video on their social media channels, showcasing roads in Delhi in a deplorable condition. However, it has been exposed that the road featured in the video is actually located in Faridabad, Haryana," said the AAP's complaint letter. The letter attaches screenshots of tweets posted from the BJP's Delhi handle, where the purported videos were shared. It also includes links to videos debunking the claim, showing the actual location of the road. The AAP contended that such acts amount to a "blatant violation" of the Model Code of Conduct
