Delhi govt releases Rs 100 cr for 12 Delhi University colleges funded by it

The Delhi government has released around Rs 100 crore for 12 DU colleges funded by it, the party said on Sunday. The AAP government has made a budgetary provision of approximately Rs 400 crore for the colleges for the financial year 2024-25, it said, adding that the latest fund is for the third quarter. In a statement, the party said since the AAP came to power in Delhi, the budget allocated to these colleges has increased more than threefold, showcasing the government's commitment to education. Delhi CM house row: PWD prepares list of items in Flagstaff Road bungalow

The Public Works Department (PWD) in Delhi has prepared an inventory of items in the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow, officials said on Thursday. Two inventories, one before issuing of the vacation certificate to former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal after he vacated the bungalow and the other after his successor Atishi left it on Wednesday, were prepared and now the call will be taken on its fresh allotment, said a senior government officer. NHRC notice to Delhi govt over boy's death after falling in open drain

The NHRC on Thursday said it has issued notices to the Delhi government, the city police chief, the DDA and the MCD over reports that a five-year-old boy died allegedly after falling into an open drain in Alipur area. This is the fifth such incident in the national capital in the recent past, the National Human Rights Commission said in a statement. The human rights panel has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report that a five-year-old boy died after falling into an open drain in the Alipur area of northwest Delhi on October 7, it said. The contractor, who worked there, had reportedly left the drain open at various places without placing any warning signs, the statement said. Delhi CM Atishi pushes for timely subsidy disbursement under solar policy

Chief Minister Atishi reviewed the progress of the Delhi Solar Policy, emphasised the importance of timely subsidy distribution, and directed officials to ensure that all consumers who install rooftop solar panels receive their subsidies within a month. Delhi govt begins trial of 'e-Abkari' to replace excise information system

The Delhi government on Thursday started trial run of an NIC-developed e-Abkari portal to replace the existing excise supply chain information management system platform to handle retail liquor business, officials said. During the trial period, the e-Abkari portal will be used by 10 liquor vends operated by each of four government corporations as well as over 30 excise licensed hotels, clubs and restaurants, said a source in the Excise department. The portal will be used for placing stock orders, generate transit permits and complete other formalities online by the selected licensees, he said. The excise supply chain information management system (ESCIMS) portal developed by a private IT firm for the Excise department of Delhi government and being operated since 2013 will be replaced once the e-Abkari website is fully ready after the trial run, he said. The Delhi government has set up a 24x7 'Green War Room' to enhance the execution of its 21-point winter action plan aimed at curbing pollution in the national capital, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Monday. Addressing a press conference, Rai said that a team of eight environmental experts will manage the war room, which has been assigned seven key responsibilities. A new task assigned to the war room this year includes analysing drone mapping and conducting real-time source apportionment studies, Rai said. "The war room will also analyse satellite data of stubble burning, along with information from 13 pollution hotspots," said the minister. Govt orders special audit of 12 DU colleges over financial irregularities

The Delhi government has initiated a special audit of 12 DU colleges fully funded by it to investigate allegations of financial irregularities flagged by Chief Minister Atishi. The Directorate of Audit has assigned an eight-member team to conduct the special audit after a status report was submitted by a high-level committee. In an order issued last week, the Audit department directed the secretary of Directorate of Higher Education to instruct the colleges to make all necessary records available to the audit team. "I am directed to convey the approval of Competent Authority for conducting a Special Audit on the examination of issues related to 12 colleges (fully funded by the Delhi Government) affiliated with the University of Delhi, as per the status Report of the High Level Committee," read the order dated September 27. The Delhi government will next week launch a single window facility for faster clearances of investors' applications, boosting ease of doing business in the city. The beta version of the single window system will be launched by Industry Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday, said a government statement. "The platform aims to streamline pre-operation approvals, reduce compliance, promote sector-specific reforms, shorten project timelines and enhance ease of starting and doing business in Delhi," Bharadwaj said.
