The CBSE will introduce artificial intelligence (AI), early childhood care education and yoga as new subjects in school curriculum from the upcoming academic session, an official said. A decision to introduce the three subjects was taken at a recent meeting of the board's governing body, he said. "The CBSE is introducing artificial intelligence as an optional 6th subject at Class IX from the session 2019-2020 onwards. The Madras High Court Saturday came to the rescue of a 40-year-old secondary grade teacher whose services were terminated 22 years ago, directing the Tamil Nadu government to reinstate her. The state government, which could not justify her termination before the Supreme Court, informed the high court that she would soon be reinstated. Sudha, a city resident, completed her schooling in Chennai and pursued a diploma course in teacher training in Kerala. In 1992, the Tamil Nadu government invited applications from eligible candidates for appointment of secondary grade teachers. Candidates from other states were also allowed to apply. Odisha government Saturday asked all schools across the state to conduct morning classes from April 2 keeping in view the rising mercury level, officials said. The school and mass Education department has sent letters to all educational boards saying that the morning school will be held from 6.30 am till 10.30 am. The instructionm was given following the mercury level crossing the 35 degree celsius mark in many places of the state. Malkangiri recorded the highest of 40 degree celsius on Saturday, the weatherman said. The school authorities have also been instructed by the government to serve midday meals by 10 a m and complete the admission process by April 2. The summer vacation will start from May 6, it added.

The West Bengal government on Friday formed a committee to look into the grievances of aspiring school teachers who were on relay hunger strike for 23 days demanding recruitment to vacant posts in state-run institutes. Education Minister Partha Chatterjee met representatives of the 200 aspiring school teachers who are on an indefinite dharna in the city since February 28. Chatterjee later told reporters that a five-member committee comprising the School Service Commission (SSC) chairman and school education department officials have been formed to look into the demands of the candidates. The agitators will submit their demands to the panel in the next two days after which it will examine the issues and come out with a formula, the minister said. The Election Commission Thursday said Congress President Rahul Gandhi's interaction with students at a women's college here did not violate the model code of conduct, though it has sought a report on his speech. Tamil Nadu's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Satyabrata Sahoo said local election officials have reported that there was no violation in terms of permission obtained by Stella Maris College for Women to host the interaction on March 13.
