The project would cumulatively produce around 25 MMT of oil and 45 BCM of gas with peak production of 78000 barrels per day of oil and 15 MMSCMD of gas. Thirty-four years after the successful rehabilitation of one-horned Indian rhinoceros in Dudhwa National Park, the park is ready to populate another rhino rehabilitation area (RRA) tomorrow. Incidentally, the first rhino rehabilitation programme in the park, located in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district, was initiated 33 years ago in April 1984, and the second is also taking place in the same month, forest officials said. The only difference: the first rehabilitation was carried out with five rhinos from Assam, while the current one is being done on its own. "Four rhinos from the existing 33-member Dudhwa rhino family in Sonaripur range will be shifted to Bhadi Tal area tomorrow and on Wednesday in two phases," Dudhwa deputy director Mahavir Kaujlagi said. State-run transmission utility Power Grid Corp today said it has bagged project management consultancy contract of Rs 21 crore from Power Grid Company of Bangladesh. "Power Grid has secured Project Management Consultancy Contract for construction of 1x500 MW HVDC Back to Back Station at Comilla North (Bangladesh) to transfer power through Surjamaninagar (India) Comilla North (Bangladesh) with an estimated project cost of Rs 1,064 crore and consultancy fee of Rs 21 crore from Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB)," a Power Grid Corp of India statement said. The company said it is already providing consultancy for construction of second block of 1x500 MW HVDC Back to Back Station at existing Bheramara Station (Bangladesh).

In February 2018, all India electricity generation (excluding from renewable sources) grew 2.6% y-o-y to 91.6 billion units (BUs). Improvement in electricity generation is largely attributed to improved generation from coal-based thermal power which improved by 3.7% y-o-y. Increase in coal-based thermal power was accompanied by a y-o-y improvement in the thermal plant load factor to 62.59% in February 2018 from 61.53% in February 2017. The improvement was driven by an increase in demand and better availability of coal.

An Indian-origin scientist in Australia has launched the world's first microfactory that can transform the components from electronic waste items such as smartphones and laptops into valuable materials for re-use. According to Veena Sahajwalla, a professor at the University of New South Wales, the e-waste microfactory has the potential to reduce the rapidly growing problem of vast amounts of electronic waste causing environmental harm and going into landfill. It can also turn many types of consumer waste such as glass, plastic and timber into commercial materials and products, she said. State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has kick-started its USD 5.07 billion KG oil and gas project by spudding the first of the 34 wells, targeting first gas by end of 2019. Well #KDG-A on the KG-DWN-98/2 or KG-D5 block in bay of Bengal was spud from drillship Platinum Explorer 35 km off the Andhra Pradesh coast, the company said in a statement. "The well #KDG-A is one of the 34 wells planned under this mega project. The deepwater well has a target depth of 2,346 meters, under a water depth of 518 meters. The well is expected to produce around 5,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) when put to production," it said. The project will cumulatively produce around 25 million tonnes of oil and 45 billion cubic meters of gas with peak production of 78,000 barrels per day of oil and 15 million standard cubic meters per day. The government procurement agencies and traders have purchased 3.77 lakh metric tonnes of wheat that have arrived in the mandis till yesterday in the current season. While stating this here today, a spokesperson of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said the procurement process was running smoothly in the mandis. Giving details of the wheat procured by the government agencies, he said that 47,417 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, whereas Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) purchased 98,299 metric tonnes of the crop. He said Food Corporation of India purchased 97,463 metric tonnes of wheat and Haryana Warehousing Corporation has purchased 1.34 lakh metric tonnes. The spokesman said that district Palwal was leading in wheat arrival, where 1.84 lakh metric tonnes of the crop had been procured followed by Mewat, which recorded 48,960 metric tonnes of wheat arrival.
