IAF aircraft scramble after bomb threat in Iranian passenger flight

The Indian Air Force on Monday said it scrambled its fighter jets following a bomb scare on a China-bound Iranian civilian plane that was flying over the Indian airspace. An intimation was received of the bomb scare on an airline bearing Iranian registration, when it was transiting through Indian airspace, the IAF said, adding the plane was offered the option to land at Jaipur or Chandigarh but the pilots refused to divert. "IAF fighter aircraft were scrambled, which followed the aircraft at a safe distance. The aircraft was offered the option to land at Jaipur and then, at Chandigarh. However, the pilot declared his unwillingness to divert to either of the two airports. "After a while, intimation was received from Tehran to disregard the bomb scare, following which, the aircraft continued on its journey towards its final destination," it said. Pakistan, Turkey collaborate to develop 5th generation fighter jet: Report

Close allies, Pakistan and Turkey are collaborating on the development of a fifth generation fighter jet, a media report said on Wednesday. Temel Kotil, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) told Aaj News channel that Turkey and Pakistan were collaborating on the project. Air Vice-Marshal Dr Rizwan Riaz, Pro-Rector Research, Innovation & Commercialisation (RIC) at National University of Science and Technology (NUST) confirmed that the two countries were building a fighter jet called the TF-X, the Business Recorder, a Pakistani financial daily newspaper reported. This is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft for which Pakistan and Turkey are now collaborating, Riaz said, adding the NUST has previously conducted similar projects in collaboration with the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and Pakistan Air Force. IAFchief flies Su-30MKI fighter jet to witness its 'capability enhancement'

Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria Thursday flew a Su-30MKI fighter jet in Bengaluru to witness its "capability enhancement", the Indian Air Force (IAF) said. "CAS (Chief of Air Staff) visited Bengaluru and interacted with test crew of Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) & software engineers of Software Development Institute," it said on Twitter. The ASTE conducts flight testing of aircraft, airborne systems and weapons prior to their induction into the IAF. Bhadauria reviewed ongoing projects during his visit on Thursday and flew a Su-30MKI aircraft to "witness the capability enhancement on successful completion of one such project", the IAF stated.
