Tripura to host G20 conclave on clean energy from Monday: CM Manik Saha

Around 75 delegates will be arriving in Tripura on Sunday for a science conclave titled clean energy for green future' as part of the G20 meetings, Chief Minister Manik Saha said. The event will be held on April 3 and 4 at the International Fair Ground at Agartala, the capital of the northeastern state. This will be a big opportunity for the state to showcase its wealth and resources before the global stage, the chief minister said while speaking at a programme at Badharghat in West Tripura district on Saturday. Saha said that earlier it was decided that the conclave will be held in Guwahati but Prime Minister Narendra Modi batted for hoisting such an event in Agartala. G20 expert group formed for strengthening multilateral development banks

Under the aegis of India's G20 Presidency, a 11-member expert group has been set up to suggest measures to strengthen multilateral development banks (MDBs). The finance ministry in a statement said Professor Lawrence Summers ( President Emeritus, Harvard University) and N K Singh (Former Chairperson, 15th Finance Commission of India) are co-convenors of the G20 Expert Group on strengthening MDBs. The panel would work on making a road map for an updated MDB ecosystem for the 21st century, touching upon all aspects of MDB evolution, and mechanisms for coordination among such banks to address and finance global development and other challenges more effectively. The panel would also evaluate various estimates regarding the scale of funding required by and from MDBs for addressing their and member countries' increased financing needs for SDG and transboundary challenges. The expert group will submit its report to the Indian Presidency of G20 before June 30, 2023, the ministry said.

India to push for rupee trade agenda in G20 meetings, says official

India will be looking to push the rupee trade agenda in the G-20 meetings it is organising as part of its ongoing presidency of the forum, a senior bureaucrat said on Monday. Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said rupee trade will be of help, especially with those countries whose currencies are under pressure. "Definitely, we would like to see that rupee trade also happens, particularly those countries which are facing issues," Barthwal told reporters here, replying to a specific question if India will be looking at the upcoming G-20 meeting of the trade and investment group as a platform to boost rupee trade. He also said that the issue of rupee trade is not directly linked with the G-20 forum. Gujarat to host disaster management meet from March 30 as part of G20

Gujarat will host a meet on disaster management from March 30 till April 1 as part of India's G20 presidency, an official said on Friday. It was earlier announced by the government that Gujarat will host the next round of G20 meetings from March 27 till April 4, during which three meetings will take place in the state. Gujarat to host next round of G20 meetings from March 27- April 4: Official

Gujarat will host the next round of G20 meetings from March 27 to April 4, during which three conclaves will be held in the state on a range of issues, where delegates from different countries will converge for participation, said an official on Tuesday. India currently holds the year-long presidency of the Group of 20 (G20), which comprises 19 countries across continents and the European Union (EU). Of these three upcoming events in the state, the first meeting on "Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG)" will take place between March 27 and 29 in Gandhinagar, said IAS officer Mona Khandhar, who is coordinating G20 events in Gujarat. Traffic cops train in soft skills to welcome G20 guests in Greater Noida

As preparations are afoot for hosting G20 event in Greater Noida later this year, the local traffic police personnel are undergoing soft skill training to ensure the international visitors do not face any obstacles on the road. The Noida traffic police personnel will be at the service of G20 dignitaries right from Delhi airport, where a helpdesk would be set up for them. They are also coordinating with their Delhi counterparts to chalk out plan for glitch-free movement on the roads during the event, officials here said. Russian President Vladimir Putin may attend the G-20 summit in India in September, but no decision has yet been made, his spokesperson said on Monday. "It cannot be ruled out," Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked if Putin's participation in the summit in India in September was being considered. Several G20 countries to participate in flower festival at Delhi's CP

Several G20 countries, including China and Japan, will participate in a flower festival at Central Park, Connaught Place here on the weekend, officials said on Thursday. The objective is to showcase the vibrancy and colourful display of G20 members and guest countries, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) said in a statement. The NDMC G-20 Flower Festival is being organised at Central Park, Connaught Place on March 11 and 12. Flower plants of different colours and varieties will be displayed in different forms and installations, it said.
