G20 Summit: MCD puts up banners bearing images of Delhi's heritage sites

Nearly 450 large banners bearing images of Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb, Lotus Temple and other iconic heritage sites in Delhi have been put up across the city by the municipal corporation to welcome heads of state and other international guests who will arrive here for the G20 Summit. As part of a city beautification drive by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), new murals have also been painted on public walls depicting the cultural heritage of India, as well as the successful soft-landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon. These large banners also bear the G20 logo, the theme 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', 'One Earth. One Family. One Future' with a welcome message, and have largely been put up on unipoles which usually carry advertisements. "We had decided to put up welcome banners in the city for the G20 Summit. Delhi Police conducts flag marches, picket checking for law & order for G20

Flag marches, enhanced patrolling and picket checking are among the measures taken by the Delhi Police to maintain law and order in the national capital for the G20 Summit, officials said on Wednesday. The G20 Leaders' Summit will be held in Delhi from September 9-10. A senior police officer said they are conducting flag marches in their district every day. "Picket checking has been increased in the area and communication is being established with locals to give them a sense of confidence. Traffic arrangements have been put in place. The areas near Yamuna Khadar are being checked regularly. Mounted morchas have also been pressed into service," the officer said. Apart from the local police, paramilitary personnel are also conducting flag marches. The forces continue to remain on high alert to thwart any untoward incident. 19 markswomen, special CPs at venue part of Delhi Police's security for G20

Multiple security agencies, 19 markswomen, and special commissioner of police-rank officers as venue commanders are part of the "foolproof" security arrangements put in place by the Delhi Police for the G20 Summit in the city. According to officials, police will be maintaining a hawk-eye vigil during the summit, with the assistance of over 50,000 personnel, K9 dog squads and mounted police. "From the airport to hotels and from hotels to the venues for the G20 Summit, foreign delegates will be provided foolproof security by the Delhi Police during the prestigious summit," a senior official said. In order to strengthen the arrangements, the Delhi Police is also being assisted by the Indian Air Force and specialised central agencies like the National Security Guard (NSG) and some of the central armed police forces (CAPF). Eighty teams of medical personnel, 130 ambulances, and advanced life support teams to escort VVIP carcades will be deployed as part of preparations to handle medical emergencies during the G20 Summit here. G20: Delhi Metro services to start from 4 am on all lines from Sep 8-10

Delhi Metro services will start from 4 am from terminal stations on all lines of the network on September 8, 9 and 10 in view of the G20 Summit, officials said on Wednesday. Besides, parking facilities at Supreme Court, Patel Chowk and RK Ashram Marg metro stations will be closed from 4 am on September 8 till noon of September 11, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said. The move to start metro services early is to facilitate movement of people, and police personnel and staff from other assisting agencies deployed to maintain security, law and order, traffic arrangements, for the upcoming G20 Summit, it said. The mega event is slated to be held from September 9 to 10 at the newly built international convention and exhibition centre -- Bharat Mandapam -- at Pragati Maidan.
