P&W engine issues delay GoAir's proposed overseas flights

The delayed delivery of Pratt & Whitney engine-powered Airbus A320 Neo planes along with regulatory approvals has affected GoAir's plans for international operations, which are expected to commence only early next year, an airline source said. The Wadia group-promoted budget airline had received government's nod to go overseas in August last year with approvals to fly to nine international markets - China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Maldives and Qatar. "The whole thing is delayed because of the delay in deliveries of aircraft due to Pratt and Whitney (P&W) engine challenges," a senior official of the airline told PTI. He was, however, quick to add that they are "now getting a whole lot of deliveries and the P&W engine issues have also been sorted out." Regional connectivity scheme: GoAir seeks partners for regional play

GoAir may partner with smaller airlines to link unserved towns as a part of government's regional connectivity plan. "We are looking at possibilities and we may team with regional airlines," GoAir CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said today. Such a tie up would enable airlines to feed each others' network. The scheme allows participating airlines to code share with other carriers. Code shares are commercial agreements which allow airlines to sell tickets on each others' network.
