Haryana minister Sandeep Singh should resign on moral grounds: Hooda

A day after Chandigarh Police filed a charge sheet against Haryana minister Sandeep Singh in a sexual harassment case, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Saturday said the BJP leader should resign immediately on moral grounds. If he does not do so, the chief minister should seek his resignation, Hooda, a Congress leader, added. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party's Haryana unit held a protest here demanding dismissal and arrest of Singh. AAP leaders and workers were detained by the police. Mobile internet, bulk SMS services suspended in Nuh district till Aug 28

The Haryana government on Saturday ordered suspension of mobile internet and the bulk SMS services in the communally charged Nuh till August 28 in view of the call for a 'Shobha Yatra'. The government announced the decision apprehending spread of rumours through social media by anti-social elements ahead or during the rally called to be held on Monday. The suspension order was issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) T V S N Prasad on Saturday. The Haryana government had earlier too suspended the mobile internet services in Nuh after the breaking out of communal clashes. Nuh communal violence accused held after brief gunfight with police

A man allegedly involved in the communal violence in Nuh was arrested after a brief encounter with police, officials said Thursday. The arrested accused was identified as Osama alias Pehelwan, resident of Ferozpur Namak village, police said. According to police, so far 61 FIRs have been registered and 286 accused arrested in connection with the communal clashes that erupted in Nuh when the Vishva Hindu Parishad's Braj Mandal Yatra was attacked by a mob on July 31. Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, died in the communal clashes. Late Wednesday night, the Nuh police arrested Osama after a brief encounter near Ujina canal drain. A search operation was launched following inputs that the bike-borne accused was headed to Ali Meo village from Ferozpur Namak. 7 deputy commissioners among 16 IAS officers transferred in Haryana

In a major administrative reshuffle, the Haryana government on Saturday shifted 16 IAS officers and 28 HCS officers with immediate effect. Among them, seven deputy commissioners were transferred, according to an official order. Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sushil Sarwan has been posted as deputy commissioner Panchkula, replacing IAS officer Priyanka Soni, according to the order. Sarwan will also hold the charge of chief administrator, Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board, Panchkula. Manoj Kumar, a 2012 batch IAS officer, will be the DC of Yamunanagar in place of Rahul Hooda who has been posted as DC, Rewari. Minister Anil Vij asks DGP for report on cases with pending investigation

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has directed the state police chief to submit a report within 15 days on the cases in which investigation has been pending for more than one year. In a letter to Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur, who recently assumed charge, Vij stated that investigation has been pending in about 3,229 cases in various districts for more than one year and termed it a serious matter. According to an official statement on Friday, Vij asked the DGP to explain the reasons for the delay in the investigation of these cases and submit a detailed report within 15 days. He asked the DGP to take necessary action to ensure that all pending cases are investigated and disposed of expeditiously.

Haryana govt to launch special campaign to combat child malnutrition

The Haryana government will launch a special campaign aimed at improving the health of malnourished children in the state, an official said on Friday. Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Friday said this initiative will focus on addressing factors such as underweight and stunted growth that impact the lives of children from birth till the age of 6 years. Nuh violence: FIR against provocative speeches at Palwal 'mahapanchayat'

Police have registered an FIR against unidentified people for allegedly making provocative speeches at the August 13 'Sarv Hindu Samaj mahapanchayat' in Haryana's Palwal, officials said. The FIR was registered based on a complaint by Probationer Sub-Inspector (PSI) Sachin, who alleged that some people gave provocative speeches against the people of another community during the gathering in Pondri village, they said. The FIR was registered under IPC sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups) and 505 (statements conducing public mischief), among others, at the Hathin Police station on Monday, police said. Haryana extends family income limit to avail Ayushman Bharat to Rs 3 lakh

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Saturday increased the annual income limit under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana from Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 3 lakh, a move to raise the number of state beneficiaries under the scheme. Khattar made this announcement during the 'Jan Samvad programme' at Bakana village in the Yamunanagar district, said an official release. With this announcement, eight lakh more families in the state are expected to be included under the scheme, taking the total beneficiary families under the Ayushman Bharat Chirayu Haryana Yojana to 38 lakh, Khattar said. The chief minister said the state government has so far spent Rs 500 crore under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He added that the portal for availing of Ayushman cards will be opened for one month. Haryana govt rejects ethnic cleansing charge, court to hear demolition case

The Haryana government on Friday rejected in the high court the suggestion that a demolition drive in violence-hit Nuh did not follow procedure and was an exercise in ethnic cleansing, as the bench hearing the case referred it to the chief justice's court. On Monday, the Punjab and Haryana High court had halted the demolition of illegally-constructed buildings in Muslim-dominated Nuh, questioning if a particular community was being targeted after communal violence broke out there. The Haryana government has issued an order to transfer from Nuh a police officer in the rank of deputy superintendent. According to the order issued on Monday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Nuh) Jai Prakash has been transferred. Banks, ATMs to reopen in Haryana's Nuh on trial basis from August 7

Banks and ATMs will reopen on a trial basis in Haryana's Nuh on Monday, a week after clashes broke out in the district over a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, an official has said. Financial institutions in Nuh, Tauru, Punhana, Ferozepur Jhirka, Pingawan and municipal corporation areas will open for a short window on Monday, the official said. Demolition in Nuh continues, illegal structures on 2.6 acres of land razed

The demolition drive in violence-hit Nuh district of Haryana continued for the third day on Saturday as authorities bulldozed illegal constructions on 2.6 acres of land around Nalhar Medical College in the state.
