The father of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex after her wedding to Prince Harry, on Saturday made another emotional plea for the actress-turned-royal to make contact with him. Thomas Markle, a former Hollywood lighting director, has not heard from his daughter or son-in-law since their wedding in May last year and in a new interview from his home in Rosarito, Mexico, he told 'The Sun' that he will keep reaching out and probably get "louder". "It's like a dream that has turned into a nightmare. The royals and Meghan can help end this nightmare by simply giving me a call. To this day, I cannot think of anything I've done to deserve how I'm being treated now," the 74-year-old said. "I've been a good father I've done nothing wrong. 7-year-old boy gets crushed in lift shaft
A seven-year-old boy died after getting trapped between a lift and its shaft in Palghar district of Maharashtra Saturday. The horrific accident took place at Sativali in Vasai tehsil, said Palghar police spokesperson Hemant Kumar Katkar. Around 11 am, Hanskumar Gaund (7) and some other children took the lift in the building where he lived, Katkar said. While getting out on the first floor, Hanskumar's leg got stuck in the gap between the lift and the shaft, he said. The boy cried out, but the lift restarted and he was dragged along and his head got crushed, the police officer said. A case of accident has been registered at Valiv police station in the district.

2 die after consuming poison laced alcohol
Two persons died and one is in critical condition after allegedly consuming poison laced alcohol in the district on Friday, police said. The incident took place at Gaurpara under the Naktideul police limits, they said. The deceased have been identified as Pabitra Deep (58) and Kapileswar Badi (50). Another man Fakira Khura (70) is undergoing treatment at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla. Police said, while Pabitra Deep died on Thursday, Kapileswar Badi died at VIMSAR on Friday morning. As per the report received by the police, the trio consumed liquor at Fakiras house on Thursday. Recognition of 13 zoos has been cancelled by the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) for not operating in accordance with rules, Lok Sabha was told on Friday. In written reply to a question, Minister of State for Environment Mahesh Sharma said the decision was taken by the CZA considering physiological, biological and behavioural requirements for wellbeing of captive animals housed in the respective zoos. Sharma said Aurangabad Municipal Zoo is among the zoos whose recognition has been cancelled by the CZA under Section 38H(6) of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. "Recognition of thirteen (13) zoos is cancelled by the Central Zoo Authority for the reason of not operating in accordance with the standard and norms prescribed in the Recognition of Zoo Rules notified by the Government of India. "The decision was taken by the Central Zoo Authority considering physiological, biological and behavioural requirements for well being of captive animals housed in the respective zoos," he said. Leopard on the run trapped near safari park home
The leopard that escaped from a safari park here on New Year's Day was captured near it after four days on Friday, the park director said. After the leopard, named Sachin, fled, the authorities set up around a dozen traps near the park and the big cat was found in one of them, Bengal Safari Park Director Rajendra Jakhar said. The leopard is being taken back to its own enclosure, he said. Panic gripped Siliguri, a major town in north Bengal, on Tuesday after Sachin escaped and could not be traced for three days. Some employees of the Park saw the big cat escaping from its enclosure Tuesday morning, following which visitors were not allowed there on Tuesday, Forest officials said. The enclosures for different animals in the safari park have been built with nets made of iron, an official said, adding, forest officials are trying to figure out how the big cat escaped from its enclosure.
