BCCI's Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji has decided against accepting the Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, announced by the BCCI on Saturday.

A total of 2,655 candidates are left in the fray for the May 12 assembly polls in Karnataka. Out of 2,655 candidates, 2,436 are men and 219 women, a statement from the Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office said, a day after the last date for withdrawal of candidature. The process of filing of nominations had begun with the"issual of gazette notification on April 17. While, the last"date for filing of nominations was April 24, scrutiny was on April 25. The CEO office said there were 3,509 nominated" candidates without duplicates. Mulabagilu had highest"nomination of 61 while the lowest nomination of four was in Challakere. It said 271 nominations had been rejected. The highest rejections of eight each were in Shantinagar .
Abhishek Sharma, one of the 15 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir who qualified the prestigious civil services 2017 examination has a word of advice for the state's stone-pelting youths -- give peace a chance. Six people, including four minor girls, were killed and two others injured when a speeding truck collided with a car carrying a marriage party near here, a police official said today. The bridegroom and the car driver were among those killed in the mishap which took place last night near Narora village in the district, he said. The speeding truck rammed into the car from front and then overturned on it, killing six people, including the bridegroom, on the spot, said Maihar Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Arvind Tiwari. The groom was identified as Brimohan Kol (22), he said. The marriage party was heading to Amilia village where Kol's wedding was arranged, Tiwari said. Two girls were seriously injured in the mishap and admitted in a hospital for treatment, the officer said.
