Train timings on Konkan Railway route to change from Jun 10 to Oct 31

The train timings on the Konkan Railway network will be changed from June 10 to October 31 with the introduction of a monsoon timetable on the route to avert possible untoward incidents during heavy rains. The revised timings for trains on the Konkan route from June 10 to October 31 have been published by the railways. As per the new timetable, the Mangaluru Central-Mumbai LTT Matsyagandha Express (12620), will depart from here at 12.45 pm instead of 2.20 pm. Its pairing Train No. 12619 will arrive in Mangaluru Central at 10.10 am instead of 7.40 am, a release from the Southern Railway said. Train No. 12133 Mumbai CSMT-Mangaluru Junction Superfast will arrive here at 3.40 pm instead of 1.05 pm and Train No. 12134 to Mumbai CSMT will leave from the city at 4.35 pm instead of 2 pm. Kapurthala Rail Coach Factory fails to deliver even one train set for FY23

Railways' premier production unit, the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, failed to deliver even one Vande Bharat train in 2022-23 against a projected target of 32, documents have revealed, with the unit blaming its suppliers for not providing electrical components for the train sets. The failure of the factory to achieve its targets, sources indicated, could affect the Railways' ambitious plans of running 75 Vande Bharat trains by August 2024. The coach factory did not just fall short of its target to produce Vande Bharat trains, but also in the overall the production of all kinds of coaches. The factory saw a major shortfall in production at the end of FY 2022-23, having manufactured 1,478 coaches against a target of 1,885, according to a document accessed by PTI. The factory could manufacture only 153 3HP MEMU trains till March 2023, against a target of 256, and also fell short of its target for LHB coaches, manufacturing 1,325 of it against the goal of 1,520. The country's largest employer, Indian Railways, has decided to offer 10-per cent horizontal reservation in level 1 and a 5-per cent quota in level 2 and above non-gazetted posts to Agniveers against the direct recruitment quota, sources said on Thursday. This will be in the nature of horizontal reservation as in the case of PwBD, ex-servicemen and CCAAs. The Agniveers will also be given an exemption from the physical efficiency test, the sources said. They will be given age relaxations -- five years for the first batch of Agniveers and three years for the subsequent batches -- over and above the existing age limit prescribed for different communities for level-1, level-2 and above non-gazetted posts.
