Delhi: PM Modi urges Interpol to speed up Red Corner Notices' process

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged the Interpol to speed up Red Corner Notices against fugitive offenders to help eliminate safe haves for the terrorists, corrupt and criminals. Red Notices are issued by Interpol to locate a fugitive who has fled the country where he is wanted. A member country can arrest or deport an individual against whom such a notice is circulated by Interpol. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said there can be no safe havens for the corrupt, terrorists, drug cartels, poaching gangs and organised crime, and called for a global response to tackle these dangers. He said a safe and secure world is "our shared responsibility" and when the forces of good cooperate, the forces of crime cannot operate. Addressing the 90th General Assembly of the Interpol, Modi also said corruption and financial crimes have harmed the welfare of citizens of many countries. Traffic restrictions in Delhi in view of Interpol meeting; jams likely

Commuters in Delhi are likely to face traffic snarls on Tuesday due to restrictions announced in view of the 90th Annual General Assembly of the Interpol at Pragati Maidan. The meeting is being held in India after a gap of about 25 years. It was last held in 1997. Delegations from 195 countries will attend the four-day event that will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the valedictory function on Friday. In an advisory, the Delhi Traffic Police said the delegates participating in the conference are staying in seven hotels -- The Lalit, The Imperial, Shangri La, Le Meridien, The Oberoi, Hyatt Regency and The Ashok -- and are expected to travel to Pragati Maidan, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the airport. New Delhi: Traffic to be affected due to 4-day Interpol General Assembly

Traffic will be affected in the national capital for four days, starting Tuesday, due to the 90th Annual General Assembly of the Interpol at Pragati Maidan. Delhi Traffic Police has advised organisations in Lutyens' Delhi to either allow work from home for their employees or opt for staggered working hours for four days, in light of the event. Will seek Interpol help to crack Dhanbad judge murder case: CBI to HC

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has petitioned before the Jharkhand High Court informing a bench that it will seek the help of Interpol to crack the Dhanbad judge murder case. The agency informed a division bench of Chief Justice Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad on Friday that it has come across some digital evidence which need to be verified from the WhatsApp headquarters in the US. The CBI has already shot a letter to the Union Home Ministry for its approval to take help from the Interpol, the court was informed. In the course of proceedings, the bench was informed that WhatsApp chats have been gathered from the accused persons which indicate the involvement of more people in the conspiracy behind the death of Dhanbad district court judge Uttam Anand on July 28 last year. India becomes 68th country to join Interpol's child sexual abuse database

India on Friday joined the Interpol's international child sexual exploitation (ICSE) database which will allow it to draw links between victims, abusers and crime scene using audio-visual data. The CBI, which is India's nodal agency for Interpol matters, joined the database making India the 68th country to connect to it, according to a statement from the Interpol. "The ICSE database uses video & image comparison to analyse child sexual abuse material and make connections between victims, abusers and places," it said. An intelligence and investigative tool, the database allows specialized investigators to share information on cases of child sexual abuse. Through the image and video comparison software, the investigators can nail down the criminals by identifying victims and places of crime.
