Fuel throughput charge scrapped; carriers to save Rs 500 crore a year
This is the second straight monthly increase in rates warranted due to firming up of prices in the international market
The pact was signed by Farid Al Bastaki, director, ENOC Aviation and Bhasin at the airlines headquarter in the city, the release stated
Experts said that the ATF price would come down if it is kept in the 18% GST bracket
Currently, airlines have to pay taxes for certain services, such as 'throughput charges', 'into-plane charges' and 'fuel-infrastructure charges' when they take the ATF at any airport for their planes
Supplies to Air India resumed from Saturday evening, said an official spokesperson
State-owned fuel marketing companies revise ATF prices on the 1st of every month based on average of benchmark international oil price in the previous month
AAI is also likely to be an equity partner in the JV
This is the first time the price was reduced after five consecutive increases
Jet fuel price is now up 23.5% since January and coupled with weakened rupee, the move will pinch airlines
An immediate rise in fares is unlikely, due to growth in capacity in the domestic market, aviation sources said
