Indian High Commission in Pakistan inaugurates creche

Prasad inaugurates three-day-long job fair at Patna

A three-day-long Rozgar Mela (job fair) organized by the National Skill Development Corporation was inaugurated here on Tuesday by Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Court sets aside order discharging AAP MLA in child labour rescue case

A Delhi court has set aside an order discharging AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan in a 2010 case in which he was accused of threatening and obstructing labour department officers and a NGO team from rescuing child labourers from zari units here. Special Judge Arun Bhardwaj said the legislator and one Saifiullah Siddiqui were liable to be charged for the alleged offences of abatement to kidnap and criminal intimidation to cause death or grievous hurt. The Sessions Court has directed both the accused to appear before an Additional Chief Metropolitan magistrate on Wednesday for formal framing of charges against them. The case relates to the rescue of 15 child labourers by the police and the NGO from Batla House, Jamia Nagar here. Ethiopian police take 3 IL&FS officials into custody over unpaid wages issue

Even as five IL&FS employees continue to remain in captivity of unpaid staff in Ethiopia, the police there have taken into custody three Indian officials of the infrastructure company over non-payment of taxes and workers' salaries, a source said. Late last month, seven Indian workers of an IL&FS subsidiary - IL&FS Transportation Network (ITNL) - were taken hostage at three of its sites in Ethiopia's Oromia and Amhara states by unpaid local staff. The source said IL&FS had 15 Indian employees in Ethiopia, seven of whom were held captive by the local staff. Of the seven, two were released last week on medical ground. The three employees taken into custody after out of the eight employees who were not held captive, he said. Local workers are allegedly holding them in captivity in protest for not having paid salaries since the past two months. Delhi govt to hold special drive on minimum wages

The Delhi government will launch a special drive from next week to enforce payment of wages according to the minimum wages act, Labour Minister Gopal Rai said Tuesday. Workers, who are not getting minimum wages, can file their complaints on the helpline number, 155214, following which it will be looked into by the labour department for taking necessary action, Rai told reporters. Enforcement teams have been formed to inspect factories and firms to check whether they are paying minimum wages or not, the Aam Aadmi Party leader said. The daily minimum wages applicable in Delhi from November this year are: Rs 538 or Rs 14,000 per month for unskilled workers, Rs 592 or Rs 15,400/month for semi-skilled workers and Rs 692 or Rs 16,962/month for skilled workers. The labour minister said the 10-day drive from Monday would involve spreading awareness among the workers. Abu Dhabi Judicial Department members up by 35 per cent

The number of workers who participated in the awareness campaign of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has increased by 35 per cent beyond the target set for the year 2018. Japan says it nabs 11 Chinese for working without documents

Japanese police said Monday that they have arrested 11 Chinese nationals in northern Japan for allegedly working at a construction site without passports or proper visas, and later discovered that dozens of fellow workers had fled. Hokkaido police said the 11 Chinese, aged from 27 to 62, were arrested November 26 near a train station in Kikonai town on the southwestern coast of Japan's northern main island. Police said two were without passports, while nine others allegedly overstayed their visas. The workers were mobilised at a solar power plant construction site by a company near Tokyo, according to Japanese media reports. Officials were looking for 46 other Chinese who disappeared from the construction site after the arrests. 150 employees of Pricol call off strike, return to work

Around 150 out of the 400 workers of auto component manufacturer Pricol, who were on strike for 100 days, returned to work Monday. The 400 workers, affiliated to AICCTU, have been on an indefinite strike from August 21 seeking wage revision thereby affecting productivity by 30 per cent and delaying delivery of the products to the customers, managing director Pricol Vikram Mohan told reporters here. As there was an impact on business, the customers insisted shiftings the orders from the plant here to other units to ensure continuous supply of products, he said. The management decided to relocate or transfer 302 workers to its other plants in Pune, Manesar and Sri City where the business was shifted, based on their age, capacity and skills, and started issuing orders, he said.
