President of Apni Party Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari is contesting from the Channapora constituency, where he faces significant competition from established parties like the PDP and National Conference. Bukhari stands out not only for his political ambitions but also for his financial stature. He is recognised as the wealthiest candidate in the second phase of elections, with assets exceeding Rs 165 crore. 

 

Having previously served as the Minister for Education and later as the Minister for Finance in Jammu and Kashmir, Bukhari has a robust political background. His experience in governance positions him as a competent leader capable of addressing the pressing issues faced by constituents in Channapora and beyond. 

 

Channapora is a politically significant constituency, making Bukhari's candidacy crucial. The constituency's diverse electorate includes various demographics that have historically influenced election outcomes. He is fielded against PDP's Mohammed Iqbal Trumboo, National Conference's Mushtaq Guroo and Hilal Ahmad Wani of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
