Andhra Pradesh DGP Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has transferred the cases relating to the alleged attacks on the TDP office and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's residence in 2021 by YSRCP cadres to the CID, said an official on Monday. TDP and YSRCP leaders reportedly clashed outside the then opposition leader Naidu's residence at Undavalli in September 2021 while the TDP central office in Mangalagiri mandal was allegedly stormed by over 100 YSRCP leaders and cadres in October 2021. "The decision to transfer the cases to CID was taken by the DGP about two days ago. The superintendent of police (Guntur) directed us to be ready with the updated record of these two cases to hand them over to the CID," Mangalagiri sub-divisional police officer Murali Krishna told PTI. A three-member technical team of senior railway officials from the Signal & Telecom, Engineering and Operations department raised serious apprehension of sabotage after inspecting the accident site at Kavaraippettai Railway Station in Tamil Nadu, railway sources said. On October 11, train No12578 Mysuru - Darbhanga Bagmati Express collided with a stationary goods train at around 8.30 pm at Kavaraippettai Railway Station in Chennai Rail Division, Tamil Nadu, causing injuries to nine passengers. The Tamil Nadu government has set up an integrated command centre in view of heavy rainfall predicted by the Meteorological department, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said on Sunday. After interacting with the officials on the measures taken at the command centre, he said a helpline '1913' has been established to serve the public round-the-clock and people can also download the TN ALERT mobile application to receive information about the rainfall. The government is taking all precautionary measures in view of the Meteorological department predicting heavy rainfall from October 15 with some areas expected to receive over 20 cm of rainfall, he said. An express train rammed into a stationary train at Kavarapettai in Tamil Nadu and several passengers are feared injured, police said. A fire broke out quickly near a coach and only sketchy information is available right now on the accident, railway police said. At least two coaches have derailed and rescue teams and ambulances have rushed to the spot, police added. When contacted to seek information on the mishap, railway officials did not answer phone calls. Kavarapettai is near Chennai.
A Sharjah bound flight from Tiruchirappalli, shortly after departure on Friday evening, witnessed mid-air technical glitch and later landed safely, police said. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced a bonus and ex-gratia for 2.75 lakh employees of state public sector undertakings and statutory boards for the 2023-24 fiscal. Accordingly, all eligible workers of profit making PSUs under group C and D will be paid a minimum bonus of Rs 8,400 and a maximum of Rs 16,800, amounting to 8.33 per cent bonus and an ex-gratia of 11.67 per cent, an official release here said. The employees of the PSUs lacking allowable surplus will be paid a bonus of 8.33 per cent and an ex-gratia of 1.67 per cent. "The Tamil Nadu chief minister on October 10 ordered payment of bonus and ex-gratia to a total of 2,75,670 workers of state PSUs ahead of the festive (Diwali) season," the release said, and added that the move would entail the government an expenditure of Rs 369.65 crore.
