For the past decade, Sheryl Sandberg has been the poised, reliable second-in-command to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, helping steer Facebook's rapid growth around the world, while also cultivating her brand in ways that hint at aspirations well beyond the social network. But with growing criticism over the company's practices, or lack of oversight, her carefully cultivated brand as an eloquent feminist leader is showing cracks. Questions these days aren't so much about whether she'll run for the Senate or even president, but whether she ought to keep her job at Facebook. Though the chances of an ouster are slim, the fact that it has even come up shows the extent of Facebook's and Sandberg's troubles. "Her brand was being manicured with the same resources and care as the gardens of Tokyo," said Scott Galloway, a New York University marketing professor. "And unfortunately a hurricane has come through the garden." Facebook has been dealing with hurricanes for the past two years : fake .

Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI) Tuesday asked the government to allow a one-time increase of up to 18 per cent in maximum retail prices (MRPs) of medical devices, including stents and orthopedic knee implants, in order to offset the impact of rupee depreciation and inflation. MTaI, which represents leading research-based medical technology companies with significant investments in manufacturing in India, said the rupee has depreciated 13.13 per cent against the US dollar and 12.33 per cent against the euro in the last one year. A Tesla Model 3 customer who simply wanted to complain about the harrowing experience he had during his car delivery process barely knew he would end up with access to millions of the complaint forum users' accounts. The customer, Daniel Eleff, took to Tesla's official forum to complain about the issue. However, when he realised his post was not visible, he contacted the customer service who in turn promised to raise the request to the IT department, he explained on his website DansDeals.com.Now, to Eleff's surprise, he was given full administrator access to the forum and he could edit or delete posts on the forum. Not only that, he also was given access to the user information of 1.5 million accounts.Eleff raised the concerns to Tesla which obviously revoked the access as soon as it was reported. However, for a company like Tesla, it is pretty embarrassing to have a sizeable breach of user information which had the potential to be misused.
The use of 'cheat device' by Volkswagen in diesel cars in India leads to inference of environmental damage, the NGT has said while asking the German auto major to deposit an interim amount of Rs 100 crore with the CPCB. The NGT said that even though the standards may be stricter in other countries, "the very fact of deceit devices being installed by the manufacturers calls for an inference of prima-facie violation of environment". The Tribunal's November 16 order, uploaded Monday, said the amount has been fixed having regard to the capacity of the enterprise and possible adverse impact on the environment. It also stated that the deposit was only an interim measure, awaiting expert opinion on the subject. Researchers at IIT-Hyderabad are working on developing smartphone-based sensors to detect adulteration in milk. As a first step, they have developed a detector system to measure the acidity of milk through an indicator paper that changes colour depending on the level, a statement said. They have also developed algorithms that can be incorporated on to a mobile phone to accurately detect the colour change, it added. The research, undertaken by a team led by Professor Shiv Govind Singh, has been published in the November 2018 issue of Food Analytical Methods journal. "While techniques such as chromatography and spectroscopy can be used to detect adulteration, such techniques generally require expensive setup and are not amenable to miniaturisation into low-cost easy-to-use devices. Hence, they do not appeal to the vast majority of milk consumers in the developing world," Singh said. He added that there is a need to develop simple devices that consumers can use to detect milk ...
Sony India on Tuesday introduced a new handheld camcorder "HXR-NX200" for professional videographers and content creators in India.
Researchers at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, have develop smartphone-based system to detect adulteration in milk. The detector system measures acidity in milk using an indicator paper that changes colour according to acidity. They have also developed algorithms that can be incorporated on to a smartphone to accurately detect the colour change. IIT Professor Shiv Govind Singh, heading the research team, said, "While techniques such as chromatography and spectroscopy can be used to detect adulteration, such techniques generally require expensive set up and are not amenable to miniaturisation into low-cost easy-to-use devices. Hence, they do not appeal to the vast majority of milk consumers in the developing world." "We need to develop simple devices that the consumer can use to detect milk contamination. It should be possible to make milk adulteration detection failsafe by monitoring all of these parameters at the same time, without the need for expensive equipment," .
