Telangana govt inks MoUs worth Rs 1.79 trillion investments at Davos

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy-led "TelanganaRising" delegation signed as many as 20 MoUs for investments and expansions worth nearly Rs 1.79 lakh crore on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum summit at Davos, Switzerland, with the majority of them for setting up data centres, followed by pumped storage facilities in the state. A press release from the Chief Minister's Office said the investments are expected to create nearly 50,000 jobs. The biggest individual investments breakup broadly includes Amazon AWS - Rs 60,000 crore data centre, Sun Petrochemicals - Rs 45,500 crore, Tillman Global Holdings - Rs 15,000 crore, Megha Engineering - Rs 15,000 crore, among others, it said. JSW Defence signs MoU with Telangana for Rs 800 cr UAV manufacturing plant

JSW Defence has signed an agreement with the Telangana government to set up a facility in the state for manufacturing Unmanned Aerial Systems. JSW UAV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, would invest Rs 800 crore to set up the unit in Telangana through a technology arrangement with a leading US-based defence technology company, JSW Defence said in a statement. The MoU was signed in the presence of Telegana Chief Minister Revant Reddy and Parth Jindal of JSW Group on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) here. Amazon Web Services (AWS) will invest Rs 60,000 crore to expand its data centre infrastructure in Telangana, state government said. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu held meetings with senior executives from AWS at the ongoing World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, it added. "AWS will be expanding its data centres in Hyderabad in a big way with plans for fresh investment of around Rs 60,000 crores. With this AWS Region in Hyderabad will play an increasingly important role in supporting AWS's growth of cloud services in India, including AI in the future," a state government press release issued on Thursday stated. Sun Petrochemicals inks pact with Telangana govt for Rs 45,500 cr projects

Sun Petrochemicals has signed a MoU with the Telangana government for setting up large-scale pumped storage hydro power projects in the state with an investment of Rs 45,000 crore. The projects, "one of the single-largest investment deals ever", will come up in Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu districts of Telangana and are expected to create 7,000 jobs over a period, a release from the state government said. "These projects will have a combined capacity of 3,400 MW and will be complemented by downstream integrated solar power plants with a capacity of 5,440 MW. With an estimated investment of Rs 45,500 crore, this ambitious venture is expected to create over 7,000 jobs during the construction phase, significantly contributing to the socio-economic development of the State," it said. FMCG major Unilever on Tuesday agreed to establish two manufacturing units in Telangana following talks between Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Hein Schumacher, CEO of Unilever, at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos. During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted Telangana's "extraordinary locational advantages" as a gateway and bridge to several southern states and other parts of the country, a state government release said.
