Day after saying deal was near, Trump doubts Putin wants to end Ukraine war

President Donald Trump said Saturday that he doubts Russia's Vladimir Putin wants to end his war in Ukraine, expressing new scepticism that a peace deal can be reached soon. Only a day earlier, Trump had said Ukraine and Russia were very close to a deal". Trump said in a social media post as he flew back to the United States after Pope Francis' funeral that there was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days." Trump hinted at further sanctions against Russia. It makes me think that maybe he doesn't want to stop the war, he's just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through Banking or Secondary Sanctions? Too many people are dying!!! Trump wrote. Trump earlier on Saturday met briefly at the Vatican with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before the pope's funeral.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday said that the unilateral 30-hour Easter truce has ended and the Special Military Operations in Ukraine have resumed with full force. The Easter truce ended after midnight on Sunday local time, during which both sides accused each other of its violation. Trump finds fault with Putin, Zelenskyy as he pushes for deal to end war

President Donald Trump lashed out at both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday, expressing frustration with the Russian and Ukrainian leaders as he struggles to forge a truce to end the war. Although Trump insisted to reporters that we're making a lot of progress, he acknowledged that there's tremendous hatred between the two men, a fresh indication that negotiations may not produce the swift conclusion that he promised during the campaign. Trump began voicing his criticisms in an early morning interview with NBC News while he was at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Florida. He said he was angry, pissed off that Putin questioned Zelenskyy's credibility. The Russian leader recently said that Zelenskyy lacks the legitimacy to sign a peace deal and suggested that Ukraine needed external governance. Trump said he would consider adding new sanctions on Russia, which already faces steep financial penalties, and using tariffs to undermine its oil exports. The Republican presid
