Guwahati, April 24 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday exercised his franchise and cast his vote for the last time as the country's PM in Guwahati and said that 'Narendra Modi wave' is nothing but a creation of media. Singh was accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur. The couple cast their vote amidst tight security arrangements.
Farrukhabad/ Mandsaur/ Mumbai/ Chennai, April 24 (ANI): As India entered into 6th phase of 2014 polls on Thursday, political leaders cast their vote with hope of a stable government at the centre. While Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid cast his vote from Farrukhabad, Congress candidate from Mandsaur Lok Sabha constituency Meenakshi Natarajan also cast her vote in a positive note. Practicing their franchise, NCP President Sharad Pawar also cast his polls in Mumbai along with Congress leader Milind Deora. Meanwhile, DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran also casted his poll and said that the fight is between the DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.

Modi's road show witnessed a huge crowd on onlookers and supporters, some witnessing the march from their rooftops and others from under construction buildings. Modi is to file his nomination from Varanasi as India enters the 6th phase of 2014 polls.

Voting is taking place for 117 constituencies spread over 11 states and one union territory. These are - 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, 19 in Maharashtra, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 each in Bihar and Chhattisgarh, 6 each in Assam and West Bengal, 5 in Rajasthan, 4 in Jharkhand and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Puducherry. Voting commenced amid tight security at 7 a.m., and will end at 6 p.m. In Naxal-hit areas and Jammu and Kashmir, it is expected to end earlier.

Varanasi, April 24 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday questioned BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi if he is going to bring the culture of violence in case he comes to power, a day after AAP leader Somnath Bharti was allegedly attacked by BJP workers in Varanasi. Kejriwal, who filed his nomination on Wednesday from Varanasi constituency, claimed that the police failed to take appropriate action against the culprits. He also added that the BJP is rattled by the huge support of the people of Varanasi received by AAP.

Among those who cast their votes were, Aamir Khan, Dharmendra, Sonam Kapoor, Sunny Deol and Vidya Balan. Polling began at 7 AM for the third and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, where 338 candidates are testing electoral waters in 19 Lok Sabha seats.
New Delhi, April 24 (ANI): BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will file his nomination for contesting elections from Varanasi on Thursday. Modi is expected to arrive in the city by chopper, which will land on a helipad inside the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus. He will garland a statue of university founder Madan Mohan Malaviya, before beginning a road show to the collectorate where he will file his papers.
Varanasi, Apr 24 (ANI): AAP leader Somnath Bharti alleged that supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi manhandled him during a television show. According to Bharti, who was participating in an election-related television programme in holy city Varanasi, was beaten up by BJP supporters while trying to rescue a person who stood in his support. Bharti recalled that while trying to run away from the miscreants, he was beaten up badly.

Madhya Pradesh, Apr 24 (ANI): Ten constituencies went to polls in the sixth phase of the nine phases of 16th Lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. As many as 118 candidates are in the fray from the 10 LS seats, eight of which fall in Malwa-Nimar region. Of state's 29 LS constituencies, voting for 19 seats were completed in the first two rounds on April 10 and April 17. This round of polls is crucial for Congress as it had won six out of the 10 seats in 2009 parliamentary elections. BJP who is trying for a clean sweep of the region has put in all its might during the campaign. The security has been tightened to avoid any untoward incident.
