Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets and helped team India to restrict the hosts to 159 for 8. As this was the opening match of T20 international, fans of Indian cricket team seems to enjoy the match very much. They praised the players for their match winning performance. New Delhi, Jul 04 (ANI): India beat England by 8 wickets in the first T20 international match at Old Trafford, Manchester, England on Wednesday. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 101 off 54 balls for the Indian team. Scoring his second T20I hundred, KL Rahul whacked the English bowlers by hitting 10 boundaries and 5 sixes. While chasing the target of 160, team India lost its first wicket of Shikhar Dhawan early. Rahul came in to bat at number three position. Rohit Sharma scored 32 off 30 balls. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets and contributed in restricting the hosts to 159 for 8. After winning the toss, Indian Skipper Virat Kohli invited England to bat first.

Champions Trophy runners-up Indian hockey team receives warm welcome at Bengaluru Airport

Bengaluru. Jul 03 (ANI): Champions Trophy 2018 runners-up Indian hockey arrived Bengaluru from Netherlands' Breda on Tuesday. India lost the final match against World Champions Australia by 3-1 in shoot-off. The close match was extended to shoot-off after the score of 1-1 in the final game's regulation time. It's the second consecutive silver medal for the team in Champions Trophy. The team received a warm welcome at the airport. "We worked hard but fall short from achieving gold medal against Australia", said Captain PR Sreejesh. "With support we are getting, we are looking forward to perform our best in upcoming Asian Games and World Cup", he added.

FIFA WC 2018: Belgium knocks out Japan with last minute goal

New Delhi, Jul 03 (ANI): Belgium made its way to quarter finals of FIFA World Cup 2018 after knocking out Japan by 2-3 at Rostov Arena. Belgium recovered significantly from 2-0 to 3-2 in the finishing time. Jan Vertonghen, Marouane Fellaini scored two goals for Belgium to come at par with Japan. Nacer Chadli's goal (90'), seconds before stoppage time proved to be the final verdict of the game. Belgium will face Brazil next in quarter finals on July 6.

No official communication from IOA about team's non-participation: AIFF

New Delhi, Jul 02 (ANI): All India Football Federation (AIFF) held a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday regarding Indian Olympic Association (IOA)'s decision to not send Indian football team for Asian Games. AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das said, "We have got no official communication from the IOA about the teams non-participation, it has all been verbal. That too when I call them up, I was told the team will not be allowed to participate. They did not have the protocol or the courtesy to inform at least inform the federation the basis on which the team is not allowed to participate. It has all been in the media and no formal communication has happened. I really don't understand qualification criteria."

FIFA WC 2018: Underdogs Russia defeats Spain in penalty shootout

New Delhi, Jul 02 (ANI): In a sensational Group 16 match, home team Spain knocked Spain out of the World Cup in penalty shootout by 4-3 at Luzhniki Stadium. Russia has qualified for the quarter finals for the first time in World Cup history. Missed penalties from Koke and Iago Aspas ensured Russia's place in last eight. Spain and Russia advanced to penalties with 1-1 draw. Russia became the third team after Uruguay and France to enter quarter finals of FIFA World Cup 2018.

FIFA WC 2018: Croatia beats Denmark to qualify for quarter finals

New Delhi, Jul 02 (ANI): Croatia became the fourth team to qualify in quarter finals of FIFA World Cup 2018 after beating Denmark by 3-2 in penalty shootout. The match was extended to penalty shootout after 1-1 draw in full time at Novgorod Stadium. Croatia will face Russia in quarter finals on July 7. Both the teams opened the score in the early minutes of the game. Ivan Rakitic scored the winning penalty goal to seal the deal for Croatia.

New Delhi, Jul 01 (ANI): After Argentina's exit from World Cup on Saturday, Portugal was eliminated by Uruguay at Fisht Stadium in Sochi. Edinson Cavani's two goals ensured Uruguay's victory against Portugal by 2-1. Portugal's only goal came early in the second half by Pepe (55'). Uruguay's strong defense at the end of the game ensured stopping equalizer from Portugal. Uruguay will now face France in the quarter finals.

India's first all-woman racing team burn rubber on tracks ahead of national championship

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Jun 30 (ANI): India's first all-woman formula car racing team took fast laps around Kari Motor Speedway track in Coimbatore and showcased their racing skills. The talent hunt to select the women drivers was organised by professional racing team Ahura. Over 60 women from all over the country took part in the competition. Six racers were shortlisted to participate in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship to be held in Coimbatore next week.

Dublin (Ireland), Jun 30 (ANI): Ireland's cricket team captain Gary Wilson expressed his disappointed after being decimated by strong Indian team in the second T-20 international match in Dublin. "It is very disappointing that we were bowled out scoring just 70 runs", said Gary Wilson while addressing the media. "I think the guys will still learn from the experience", he added. India won the T-20 series by 2-0. India won the second T-20 against Ireland with mammoth 143 runs on Friday. Lokesh Rahul's excellent knock of 700 of just 36 balls and Suresh Rain's 69 of 45 put up a massive target of 213 runs on the scoreboard. In response, Ireland was bowled out scoring just 70 runs.

New Delhi, Jun 29 (ANI): Belgium defeated England by 1-0 in Group G match at Kaliningrad Stadium on Thursday. Adnan Januzaj of Belgium opened the scores with a goal (51') at early minutes of second half. England was unsuccessful in putting an equalizer till the end of the game. With the victory, Belgium will face Japan in the second round of the tournament. England will play opposite Columbia in super 16.

FIFA WC 2018: Poland shown the door by Colombia after 0-3 defeat

New Delhi, Jun 25 (ANI): FIFA world 8 rank holders Poland were shown the door out from this year's World Cup after losing to world 16 ranking Colombia in a bitter 0-3 defeat. The match held on Sunday at the Kazan Arena, Russia led to Poland dropping to number 4 position on the Group H point table and brought Colombia to the 3rd position. The opening goal (40') by Colombian defender Yerry Mina gave the team a good head start against its seasoned opponents. After one goal in the first half of the match, the second half led a gripping yet slow pace. The dullness was broken by another goal by Colombia in the 70th minute by striker Radamel Falcao. Colombia's win was set in stone by the midfielder Juan Cuadrado's third and final goal of the match (75'). Poland couldn't recover from the 3-nil score. Poland will play against Japan in Group H fixture on June 28. Colombia will face Senegal on the same day.

FIFA WC 2018: Germany beat Sweden 2-1

New Delhi, Jun 24 (ANI): FIFA world number 1 rank holder Germany beat world rank 24 holder Sweden by 2-1 on Sunday. After a shameful lost against Mexico in their opener, Germany redeemed itself in this match. Sweden took off to a good start by scoring the first goal (32') made by striker, Ola Toivonen. Germany's midfielder Marco Reus brought the team to a draw by scoring an impressive goal (48') in the second half of the game. A red card to the German defender Jerome Boateng setback Germany's pace, making the team a whole of 10 players. First he drew a yellow card in the 71st minute and another at 82 minutes leading to his march off from the field. A last minute goal (90'+5') by German midfielder Toni Kroos led to the eventual victory of Germany in the Group F fixtures. Germany will now face underdogs South Korea on June 27 in the group fixtures and Sweden will face Mexico on the same day.

FIFA WC 2018: Argentina faces bitter defeat at the hands of Croatia, loses 0-3

New Delhi, Jun 22 (ANI): Reputed football team Argentina lost 0-3 to Croatia in the crucial Group D fixture of the FIFA World Cup in Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, Russia on Thursday. After a dull first half, Croatia scored an ice-breaker goal in 53 minutes by Ante Rebic, with partial fault of Argentinean goalkeeper, Willy Caballero. Midfielder Rebic was then substituted stating some problem (57'). Croatia's win was confirmed at the 80th minute with Luka Modric's goal. FIFA WC 2018: England scores last minute goal for 2-1 victory against Tunisia

New Delhi, Jun 19 (ANI): England came out victorious against Tunisia in the Group G fixture of the FIFA World Cup in Volgograd Arena, Russia. England owed its 2-1 win to Harry Kane's header in the last minutes of the match (90'+1') which broke the 1-1 tie. Kane's 11' goal also served as the breakthrough in the match. Tunisia seemed promising in the first half with midfielder Ferjani Sassi scoring in the 35th minute. England is all set to cross swords with Panama in their next Group G game on June 24.
