'Effective' is the most overused buzzword in LinkedIn profiles by professionals based in India. According to the list of the most overused words and phrases in members’ profiles for 2012 by professional networking site LinkedIn, the most overused buzzword in LinkedIn Profiles globally is the word 'creative'.

The top-ten overused words by Indians include Effective, Analytical, Responsible, Interpersonal, Organizational, Innovative, Creative, Dynamic, Motivated and Problem solving.

"With the employment landscape in India evolving so quickly it is equally important for potential employees to refine their profile and how they communicate with future employers. Our list of overused buzzwords acts as a guideline and demonstrates the importance of developing your personal brand on LinkedIn," said Irfan Abdulla, Director, Talent Solutions, LinkedIn India.

This is the third year that LinkedIn has issued its buzzwords ranking. 'Effective' was also the top overused buzzword for professionals in India in the 2011 rankings. In 2010, the first year the study was conducted, 'dynamic' was the most overused buzzword for Indian professionals.

"If you want opportunities to come knocking, you’ve got to make your LinkedIn Profile stand out from the pack. Millions of professionals say they’re 'creative', so set yourself apart by describing and linking to projects you’ve worked on that truly were different, unique and compelling. Pointing to concrete examples of the creative work you’ve done is more convincing than simply stating you are a 'creative' professional," said Nicole Williams, LinkedIn's career expert.
