The management contract for the public parking lot outside the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner’s office was, till recently, a lucrative business because of the crowds that thronged there and waited long hours to get work done. The current contractor, though, recently confessed to the Regional PF Commissioner his inability to pay the amount he had quoted when he won the tender. But the PF Commissioner is beaming. The reason: technology had considerably thinned the crowds visiting the office, he explained. Clearly, one man’s technology blessing, is another man’s curse.
