Residents of 130 cities covered under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) could see their life expectancy increase by two years compared to 2017 if India achieves its revised target of a 40 per cent reduction in particulate pollution by 2026, a new report said on Thursday. Launched in 2019, NCAP aimed to cut 2017 particulate pollution levels in 130 highly polluted cities by 20-30 per cent by 2024. In 2022, the government revised the target to a 40 per cent reduction by 2026. In practice, only PM10 concentration is being considered for performance assessment. The Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC) said in its 2025 report that residents in these 130 cities would gain two years in life expectancy as compared to 2017 if the target is met. Government data shows 103 of the 130 cities recorded an improvement in PM10 levels in 2024-25 compared to 2017-18. Auto component industry's revenue growth to moderate to 5-7%: ICRA

Annual revenue growth of leading auto component manufacturing companies will come down to 5-7 per cent in the next fiscal due to moderation in domestic volumes and a drop in exports, rating firm Icra said on Tuesday. According to Icra estimates, its sample of 45 auto ancillaries, with aggregate annual revenues of Rs 2.7 lakh crore in FY23, is likely to grow by 9-11 per cent in FY24, driven by healthy domestic demand despite a high base and moderate growth in exports. For FY25, the growth is likely to be relatively lower to 5-7 per cent, with expected moderation in domestic volume growth and a weak outlook for exports, Icra said. It also noted that capex towards capacity enhancements and technological development resulted in higher investment in FY24, which is likely to continue in FY25. The industry is estimated to incur a capex of at least Rs 20,000-25,000 crore in FY2025, with incremental investments being towards new product additions, product development for committed platforms

The domestic auto component aftermarket is expected to touch USD 14 billion mark by 2028 on the back of robust growth in vehicle parc in the country, a report commissioned by industry body ACMA in partnership with Ernst & Young said. As per the Global Automotive Aftermarket Research Report, the size of the automotive aftermarket stood at USD 10 billion in 2023. "The Indian domestic aftermarket, valued at USD 10 billion in 2023, is poised to surge almost 1.4 times over the next five years on the back of growing vehicle demand and promising capabilities of the Indian aftermarket players," ACMA President Shradha Suri Marwah said in a statement.
