Maggi fiasco a lesson for all: ITC Chairman

Infrastructure need to be strengthened with the policy decisions of the government, he says

The quality concerns related to the noodles in the country has become a lesson that the infrastructure also has to be strengthened with the policy decisions of the government, said Y C Deveshwar, chairman of ITC Group.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural session of the first Global Investors Meeting in Tamil Nadu, in Chennai, he said, "I think that the country's infrastructure in terms of labs has to be seriously strengthened, because otherwise, if a lab does not have accreditation it can create results that cannot be relied at all, then consumer will get scared without the results being totally dependable."

 

According to him, what the High Court has said that the labs and test and their results can be relied upon only if the labs are accredited. If they are not accredited, it cannot be relied upon."
