ONGC to invest Rs 4,000cr for offshore facilities

The compnay has made three significant discoveries; two in Krishna Godavari basin, one in Tripura

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) said that it has made three significant discoveries including two in the Krishna Godavari basin and one in Tripura.

While one of the KG Basin wells produced oil the company discovered gas in another well.

An exploratory well in the state of Tripura produced gas.

The company has decided to invest over Rs 4,050 crore to upgrade western offshore facilities through two major projects.

While the Mumbai High and Heera fields will witness an infusion of Rs 2,913 crore the Bassein and Satellite field will cost Rs 1,138 crore.

"With the implementation of various redevelopment project in Western Offshore, the fields are expected to be on production beyond 2030. The existing infrastructural facilities would be required to be in service beyond 2030, which is more than the design life of these facilities. Hence revamping/retrofitting of these facilities in a phased manner is essential to maintain production of oil and gas from Mumbai High and Heera fields", stated a ONGC press release.
 

Moreover, investment will also be made Bassein and Satellite field, which handle and process acidic and corrosive gas needs revamping of static equipment and pipelines.
